Title: EDEN LAKE (2008)
Post by: zombie no.one on February 27, 2009, 10:36:12 PM
saw this with a mate the other day...

a couple go camping to 'get away from it all' etc

first day of freedom, relaxing by a lake (presumably 'eden lake') they get interrupted by a bunch of right scallyways, shouting obscenities, playing their ghetto-blaster at 11.

the guy from this couple confronts them and asks them to calm it down a bit.

from then on ensues a bloody struggle to the death between blokey and his girlfriend and these enemies.

Its a 'good film' . nice cinema camera work, decent escalation of tension between the two opposing parties, fair amount of gratuitous gore (so I'm posting this in 'GOOD MOVIES'), however, something's missing; lack of actual plot. Once you know what's going on, there's no point even paying attention to the narrative. you could probably watch it with the sound down, and still be up on everything that happens....it's that kind of deal.

The ending/pay-off could have been handled better as well - I was trying to predict the exact outcome, and what I predicted in my head would have made a lot more sense (and a much better film) than what actually happens....ok

so....6/10 for this 'shocker', but having said that, it's still a decent watch.
