Title: Cinemapocalypse on the West Coast
Post by: Scottie on March 06, 2009, 09:48:47 PM
This April 16-26, Austin Texas' original Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will take their popular classic exploitation movie series on the road - presenting EIGHT HUGE NIGHTS of white-hot exploitation thunder at some of the finest screening venues in the west!!! Alamo Weird Wednesday programmer Lars Nilsen and Terror Tuesday curator Zack Carlson will bring the rampaging Cinemapocalypse road trip to the Pacific Coast, and will be presenting rare and absolutely unseen treasures from the American Genre Film Archive's top secret subterranean 35mm archive, each film destined to peel the hair from your eyeballs, scorch the skin on your cortex and make you sterile for ninety weeks. From manic hicksploitation epics to bloodthirsty shoestring goreblasts, each movie is a railroad spike through the heart of limp modern cinema. Join us in shattering the wall between you and THE BEST TIME OF YOUR LIFE!!!

Take it from me, if you are in the area, you WANT TO GO. These guys program some of the best screenings of films you have never dreamed you would see. I just watched "The Sinful Dwarf" this Wednesday on 35mm, one of the few copies left in the world. It was so disturbing the entire theatre was laughing the whole time. And the guys who are doing the programming and presenting each film are masters of their craft. They have sat through countless numbers of these films in order to pick out only the dirtiest, grungiest, hardest to find and most fun films in the entire world. Previously chained to Austin Texas, here they break out with a vengeance and unleash their prowess on the rest of the world. Again, if you are in the area, DO NOT MISS IT!!
