Title: 1000 ways to die
Post by: WyreWizard on March 09, 2009, 08:18:12 PM
Last night on Spike TV, I saw this show called 1000 ways to die.  The show claims that all of the stories in it actually happened.  But there's one story in it that makes me question its authenticity.

In this story, a girl was fishing and she caught something.  It was a small fish which she briefly struggled with.  When she pulled it out of the water, the fish flew through the air and jammed itself into her mouth and throat.  The asphyxiation killed her.

I found that story very questionable in the extreme.  The reason I found it so questionable was the extreme improbability factor.  I mean, you have a fish roughly 6 or 7 inches long pulled out of the water by a fishing pole.  It flies from 20 to 30 feet from the woman towards her and hits the bulls-eye right into her wide-open mouth.  Now I ask you, take a picture of a person with their mouth wide open, hang it on a wall, stand about 30 feet away from it, and fire a paint-ball gun at it.  Fire it just once and try to hit the mouth of that person.  Not easy, is it?

I've tried researching this story but I can't find anything to verify it.

I have no idea if that story is true or not, but there are one-third of a billion people in the US.  So even if there's a one-in-a-million chance of something happening, it's probably happened to 350 people.
