Title: Well, I got my bi-focals today . . .
Post by: The Burgomaster on April 06, 2009, 12:17:45 PM
I just picked up my first pair of bi-focals and I'm wearing them at work.  Another symbol of my mortality.  On Saturday, April 11, I will be 45 years old.  It's all down hill from here, I guess . . .

You are old - I won't be 45 until the end of August  :teddyr:  I can see stuff far away just fine, but the printing on everything keeps getting smaller and smaller.

Did you get the ones with graduated lenses or the kind with lines dividing the lenses?

I've been wearing bifocals since about 1997, I'll be 54 this weekend.  It's just another thing that's "normal for your age". By the way get used to hearing that.

I got the graduated lenses.  Actually, I got accustomed to them pretty quickly . . . I may end up wearing them more than I wear my contact lenses . . . I cen see better now!

If you are on the computer a lot, you might want to get a pair of cheap glasses made with the reading prescription lenses.  Otherwise, you'll be straining your neck trying to see the screen. Or maybe it's just me.

No bifocals yet, but my optometrist told me back in December that my next pair likely will be. So I have that to look forward to in three years or so. Yay.

I have reading glasses to wear over my contact lenses.  I work at a computer all day and I can actually read the screen better with my bi-focals than with the reading glasses.  Suddenly, I'm a bi-focal fan!

My opthamologist gave me a year to think about the fact my next pair of glasses would need to be bifocals. I solved the problem by not going back for two years!

I've had 'em several months now, and now I'm definitely a fan. I did have to get a pair of regular glasses for reading music, since the level of a music stand hits me right betwix the bifocal line. I could play the first part of a piece fine, but at about halfway down the page - forget it!
