I'm not all that surprised considering the kind of s**t Twilight is about... That movie was the most chilling stuff put on film since Edward Scissorhands or the original Rocky Horror, and look at fans of those movies! :buggedout:

Now that being said it's also a horrific thing in real life when teenagers are so awfully maladjusted they feel the need to persecute those who don't like the same things as them with exaggerated horror stories! Creepy stuff all round, man...

I very strongly suspect that a lot of this is exaggeration/pure fiction perpetuated by people who want to emphasize how much Twilight "sucks ass."  Maybe I'm just too emotionally mature, but while I was unimpressed with the books, I can't imagine standing around talking about what utter trash it is (or maybe it's that I know too many of the things I love are considered trashy by others).  Considering how many of the books' fans are young teenagers, to do so is basically forcing conflict.

On the other hand, maybe the people bashing Twilight are all 13 year olds as well.

I'm not a fan of Twilight, but if I ever say that in public, I got to know karate from now on.  It's just a book/movie!  No need to get so violent over it!  I will admit that the series is interesting and I can understand why it would appeal to people, but it just doesn't interest me.  Now, I must take cover and defend myself.

Oh man!  I haven't seen any of the Twilight movies or read the books.  When this whole Twilight thing came about I thought "Stupid emo teenager crapola! I don't need to waste my time on that!" - which is quite similar to how I felt about Harry Potter.  Anyway, I've now read all the Harry Potter books at least twice and own all the movies and went to all the book releases (and wore glow in the dark Harry Potter glasses and participated in games - I'll stop there) and I was one of those people that read the last book as fast as I possibly could whilst cutting myself off from the world for fear that some jerk would ruin the ending for me.

So, my Harry Potter love buddy at work has turned to the Twilight side and is pressuring me into becoming "one of them".  I'm tempted, but I'm wary.  I recently heard that the Twilight world does not accept the traditional facts about vampires, such as stakes through the heart = dead vampire, turning to mist, counting poppy seeds, etc. which kind of puts me off.

I've been considering reading the books, but I have a feeling once I do, there will be no turning back.  Will it be like cheating on Harry Potter if I do?  What if I become a Twihard tooo? I'm so scared and confused!

No.

Don't go to the darkside !
Stay a Potter fan.

They're far less dangerous !

I think Twilight was ... meh.  I read a little of the book, didn't like it, and quit reading it.  That was that.  I haven't seen the movie because, really, what's the point?

I don't see what all the fuss is about.  It's not good or bad enough to get worked up over, imho.

Why is it these sorts of stories always seem to be about fans of vampire related fiction?

You never hear about people dressed up as Klingons beating up people dressed up as Stormtroopers at cons, or vice versa.

You never hear about fans of the original Battlestar Galactica putting the beat down on fans of the new series, or vice versa.

Heck you don't even ever hear about fans of soap operas beating up non-soap fans!

What is it about vampires that turns certain people nutters?
