The only thing I knew about this was Kate Winslet seduces a teen-age boy. I kept wondering why they placed the setting in Berlin when no one in the flick spoke German and it didn't seem necessary. Then I found out. GREAT MOVIE. I'll be purchasing a copy of this. She's a tremendously talented actress, who always picks excellent stories.

I just want to see this flick due to the fact that I think that Kate Winslet is gorgeous.

Well, you'll enjoy seeing her naked then.

I don't know if I'm getting jaded or sex scenes are better integrated into the movies these days and don't seem so gratuitous anymore, but I was surprised not to be especially shocked by the sex scenes with the 15-year-old boy.

I agree, great movie. I'm still not sure why she... well, no spoilers. But still not sure why Winslet's character made the choices she made. One of those movies that leaves people sitting in the theater afterward talking about stuff like that.

There's been a recent trend with nudity in Hollywood films in general, the non-popcorn films I mean...  They seem to be going back a bit more towards the 70s style nudity, where it is just kind of there and not amped up and focused on in the way that it became in the mid 80s and on.  I like it, actually, as it's allowing nudity to be used as a part of storytelling rather than just titillation (that's OK too, I just wish we could have BOTH).

I quite liked this as well and thought Kate Winslet did a great job.  I was also really impressed with the boy who played her lover, I thoughthe was great, especially for a younger actor. 

I agree...she has a look all of her own. I love that.

Haven't seen the movie yet. But I heard it was great.
