Title: "Indiana Jones"-type adventure movie ...
Post by: akiratubo on May 18, 2009, 10:46:30 PM
80s/early 90s

There were two guys who ran a charter plane business.  A woman with a treasure map hired them to fly her to the treasure.  They were persued by comedy relief villains.

One scene sticks out.  The good guys were in a bar in some "exotic" locale, deciphering a new clue.  The bad guys walked in and there was a brawl.  One of the good guys hit the biggest bad guy with a chair.  The bad guy picked him up and said, "It will take more than a chair to stop me!"  Then the woman dropped a piano on the big bad guy's head.

Thanks, but that's not it.  The protagonists were one woman and two men.

Probably "Firewalker" (1986), starring Chuck Norris and Louis Gossett Jr.

I think Frank might have something there ~ for some reason, the South African film Africa Express (1989) also comes to mind.

Something has occurred to me.  I *think* the movie was set during the 1930s.  The planes, clothes, and weapons (as I remember, anyway) seem to fit that period.

Sounds like it might actually be the pilot movie of the TV series "Tales of the Gold Monkey", now out on DVD.

"Tales of the Gold Monkey" would be my guess as well. Dropping a piano on someone would fit right up there with the show's sense of humor.

Besides regulars Stephen Collins, Ron Moody, and Roddy McDowell, the character I remember best is the Nazi like character Fritz the Monocle, played by John Hillerman.
