Title: 70's Movie at the drive in, featured song "walk away renee" ?
Post by: elevatedone on May 27, 2009, 11:19:07 AM
I was about 7 or 8 years old, so lets say the year was between 1976-1977.  My parents took me to the drive in, as they had before and I always slept during the movies.  However on this occasion, I was awake and watched some of the movie.

There was a guy raping women in a town.  The scene I remember was at a factory / plant of some sort, he chased her up some stairs inside a building at the factory, they were in a room with tools, generators, etc. where he proceeded to "take care of her". I don't know if he was killing them off or not.  During this scene, the camera would pan away from the "actors" and look out the window.

The song "walk away renee" by The Left Banke was played several times during this movie.

Any ideas?

I'm bumping this one for once not because it's Solved - it is definitely not, and now it's tormenting me a little. The Left Bank doesn't have any 70s movie soundtrack credits on IMDB and there's no reference to this film on their Wikis... of course, it was more common in the 70s for low-budget/exploitation films (which is what this sounds like) to use recognizable or hit songs on their soundtracks without crediting them or (presumably) paying royalties, so I don't doubt the Original Poster remembers this... does anyone have any idea what this film is???

Alternate Theory: The O.P.'s parents were alarmed by the scene and attempted to obfuscate what was happening for the child in their backseat by switching from the drive-in station to another nearby station playing "Walk Away Renee".......?  :buggedout:  :bouncegiggle:

Then again he says the song played "several times" throughout the movie, so, maybe not.
