Title: Trailer for Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans
Post by: Pilgermann on May 29, 2009, 11:46:19 AM
There was some fuss a while back over Herzog remaking Bad Lieutenant, some of which came from that film's director, but this looks like it won't really have much in common with the original film.  This movie looks rediculous and I can't wait to see it!

Oh, NOT SAFE FOR WORK!

I'm a sucker for anything Herzog does, so I'm there.

However, I prefer his earlier rough-around-the-edges films with the likes of Klaus Kinski and Bruno S. (and even that gaggle of unruly midgets and dwarfs) to his more recent 'slick' films like INVINCIBLE and Rescue Dawn.

I'm not a big fan of Cage anymore, so I can only hope Herzog gave him the full gun-to-the-head Kinski treatment and made him crawl through mud and jump on cactus and eat worms and such.

Of course, nothing will ever top the LAUGHING GERMAN MIDGET.

Somebody needs to start tacking him on 'fail' clips, just like that Keyboard Cat.

My God! It looks like some silly black comedy a-la "Bad Santa".

I hope Abel Ferrara is out there sharpening his vodoo skills.

I love both Herzog and BAD LIEUTENANT, so I'll have to see this.  It is an odd little project, though.  Like Neville says, the tone seems all wrong.  At least, it will take some getting used to the idea.

Thank God I didn't have to see Cage pounding his pud, I was traumatized for months after seeing the Keitel version .
