Title: Eden Lake
Post by: horrorfanatic on June 23, 2009, 09:49:07 PM
Absolutely loved this movie .I thought it had an interesting twist on the horror formula. The movie is about 2 loving couple who leave their fancy digs to go out of town in the country to spend time with each other. They are interrupted by a group of angry hostile volatile teens though. The movie literally made me cringe and cover my eyes and I love horror even the graphic ones but even this movie had certain parts I just couldnt bare to watch.

The ending was infuriating to me as well as what they let happen to certain characters which I will not give away to those who have not seen it.All I can say is this is one of the best suspense/horror/revenge movies I have seen in years. The acting works great for the film the kids are sadistic as it gets especially the leader of their gang.

This was also more of a psychological horror granted there is plenty and I do mean plenty of violence. But it also has some psychological undertones especially the ending and that part I definitely won't give away. While I enjoyed the movie felt for the good guys and despised the bad guys. The ending left me cold and unaffected. Some of you may understand why I feel that way if you had a chance to see this film.

It was an excellent film but I would definitely never watch it again, I like my fair share of emotions when viewing texts but nothing as infuriating as what happened in that.

I'd like to know what American spectators thought of Britain's equivalent of rednecks, albeit they're not psychopaths, though the kids who are wasting their lives in my home of Liverpool often wind up in prison.

Pretty much agree with you guys, a good movie on the technical, acting, and suspense front, but there were several head-slappingly STUPID moments in the film that I was like, "Oh, COME ON!"

Like, for example:

-The protagonist(s) keep getting ahold of potential weapons (branches, tire iron, shard of glass etc) and they keep DROPPING them.  I mean, the shard of glass is understandable considering what just happened, but there's NO reason for the other items to be ditched.

-Instead of running away, a character decides to hide in a rather obvious and inescapable place while being chased in the woods.

-The woman hides ALL NIGHT with a CELL PHONE and doesn't attempt to use it.

And yeah, the ending p**sed me the hell off too, but I guess that's what makes it a really effective horror film.

IMO one of the worst endings ever.  It literally made me sick to my stomach.  A movie should make you feel something and this one certainly did that.  Even though I hated the ending I gotta give them credit for not taking the easy way out. They had to know the ending would p**s a lot of people off.
