Title: Star Trek :The Animated Series
Post by: trekgeezer on June 30, 2009, 01:26:32 PM
I bought this a few weeks ago and just got a chance to watch a few episodes.  It's extraordinarily written for a Saturday Cartoon.  The animation is pretty much standard for Filmation studios.  The exterior shots of  the Enterprise are quite good.

One bone to pick is that most of the guest characters are voiced by James Doohan and Majel Barrett.  One notable exception being Mark Leonard as Sarek.  Walter Koenig is absent due to the fact they couldn't afford the entire cast.  Chekhov was replaced by by an alien called Arex, voiced by Doohan.

If you're nostalgic for this kind of stuff this is definitely one to watch.

I always loved that show.  Been meaning to pick it up for sooooo long.  The writing really was excellent.  I remember watching it as a kid, but since then I've only seen a couple of episodes on the Cartoon Network years ago.  The animation was really creative, as well as the stories.

The animated series allowed them to create different alien races and the different shuttlecraft and we finaly see a SALOT a sort of cross between a ST BERNARD and a BEAR and the LAMACHA sounded like GODZILLA
