Title: Name of a Comedy Western - Maybe TV Pilot
Post by: LilCerberus on July 02, 2009, 11:49:48 PM
I'm looking for the name of a made for TV comedy western.
I don't think it was an episode of "Alias Smith & Jones", but I can't swear to that, as I was never a fan of the series.

(What I remember mostly, was missing most of it, because my dad kept turning off the power so he could install a new light fixture.)

Of the only two scenes I recall, the first involves two men (the protagonists?) entering the sheriffs office, where they meet the sheriff & his lovely young daughter. The men notice a goat tied up in the corner, and the sheriff's daughter tells them it's named Billy the kid (get it?).

It turns out, the sheriff is so near sighted, that he needed a seeing eye dog, & no one has the heart to tell him it's really a goat.

The second scene I remember, is the obligatory showdown at the end.
A gang rides into town, & the sheriff goes out to confront them.
The sheriff thinks his "seeing eye dog" is trained to guide him towards whatever he's supposed to be shooting at, but when the gunfire erupts, the goat panics & starts running in every direction, & likewise, the sheriff ends up shooting at everything but the gang.
In desperation, one of the townspeople rushes in & sets the goat free, then puts the leash around his own neck, and pretending he's the goat, get down on his hands & knees & starts crawling towards the gang so that the sheriff will start shooting in the right general direction.
