Title: Beetles, Eels, and a giant zombie Mammoth at Radiation-Scarred Reviews
Post by: Saucerman on July 03, 2009, 04:31:46 PM
Three more Sci-Fi Channel Original Movies.  I'm not sure why I torture myself so.

CAVED IN: PREHISTORIC TERROR (2006): http://radiation-scarred-reviews.blogspot.com/2009/07/caved-in-prehistoric-terror-2006.html (http://radiation-scarred-reviews.blogspot.com/2009/07/caved-in-prehistoric-terror-2006.html)
"This film, with its extraordinarily-vague-by-SFCOM-standards title, was probably inspired by the fact that the subfamily of Scarab beetles known as Rhinoceros beetles are, proportionately, the strongest creatures on earth, capable of comfortably lifting 800 times their own body weight. They're also the largest, heaviest beetles in the world, some of them weighing as much as or more than an apple. That's 800 apples one of these could lift. I have friends who could probably be lifted (or at least flipped from vertical to horizontal) by a Rhinoceros beetle."

DEEP SHOCK (2003): http://radiation-scarred-reviews.blogspot.com/2009/07/deep-shock-2003.html (http://radiation-scarred-reviews.blogspot.com/2009/07/deep-shock-2003.html)
"Hubris station? Seriously? Seriously? Multi-billion dollar research/defense station parked under the Arctic ice, and you name it "excessive pride, presumption or arrogance (originally towards the gods)"? Jeez, why not name it "Slam into the Sea Floor Station"?"

MAMMOTH (2006): http://radiation-scarred-reviews.blogspot.com/2009/06/mammoth-2006.html (http://radiation-scarred-reviews.blogspot.com/2009/06/mammoth-2006.html)
"Agent Powers looks a bit like a cross between Angelina Jolie and a sucker-fish. Those are some serious lips."

Starting sometime next week I'll be transitioning smoothly from SFCOMs and similar made-for-TV pap to films about swamp monsters.  Keep an eye out!
