I spent some time reviewing movies with a theme, in this case movies set in swamps.  And, to mix it up, a movie about venom-spitting fishmen capable of turning invisible.

"The editing was terrible, and in places cut down the effectiveness of the brooding, oppressive bayou atmosphere. I mean, seriously, this film was edited by an epileptic lemur. I particularly like (heavy sarcasm there, folks) the quick little 5-second montages intended to show that the swamp is angry. Criminy, my eyes! My ears! Frigging stupid sound effects to go with the flashy montages..."

"At first the film led me to believe that this was going to be a horror film along the lines of MAN-THING only to be surprised with a liberal admixture of Freddy Krueger into the Jimmybeast's backstory."

"Adrienne Barbeau stands out for a slightly different reason. She's a talented actress, sure, but there's a certain very special, very bouncy pair of talents she puts on display here. I believe that this is the cut version of the film, as I only saw demure sideboob, no front view."

"The Swamp Thing suit is miles ahead of the original. While the Swamp Thing in 1982 looked like a bald, green flabby guy with some moss glued to his nethers, Swamp Thing now is beefy. He's freaking jacked. Muscular. He's also much mossier and vine-coated. He looks like a humanoid figure sculpted out of vegetable matter now."

"The monsters themselves are imaginatively and frighteningly designed. They're described as abyssal fish-monsters, and their large (though not overly-so) dead eyes support this. Interestingly, the monsters are frequently compared to angler fish, and Arden specifically suggests that the monster is like a family of angler fish known as Sea Devils which she describes as having color-shifting abilities like a chameleon. Well, the real-world Sea Devils don't seem to have this ability, but it still makes for a cool monster."
