Title: Dog with human head -- could it be THE THING (1982)? Post by: Rev. Powell on July 18, 2009, 04:40:44 PM Someone posted this question at my site:
"Impossible request here. When I was 4 or 5, I got up from bed and walked into the living room where my parents were watching a late night movie. It was a horror sci-fi piece of some sort. All I remember is a dog walking towards the camera and when it got near I realized it had a human head. That scene must have made quite an impression because I still remember it today. So… pre-1984 sci-fi/horror, mutant dog with human head. It’s not much of a description, but do you have any clues?" I was thinking it sounded like it could be from THE THING--I know that had some animal/human hybrids in it. But I haven't seen the movie. Can anyone confirm that it's THE THING, or if not, tell me what it is? Title: Re: Dog with human head -- could it be THE THING (1982)? Post by: LilCerberus on July 18, 2009, 04:59:49 PM It sounds to me like that scene from "Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)" when Matt & Liz are trying to blend in.
A clip of this scene is also featured in "Terror in the Aisles (1984)". Title: Re: Dog with human head -- could it be THE THING (1982)? Post by: Cthulhu on July 19, 2009, 03:20:47 PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTfFwXcP-xQ
This clip is from The invasion of the body snatchers. It has a human faced dog in it. Is this it? Title: Re: Dog with human head -- could it be THE THING (1982)? Post by: RCMerchant on July 20, 2009, 03:20:31 AM It may also be the MEPHISTO WALTZ (1971).

Lil' Cerb & Cthulu, I bet a hefty sum that's what he's remembering! I'll ask him to confirm. Title: Re: Dog with human head -- could it be THE THING (1982)? Post by: Rev. Powell on July 22, 2009, 05:43:02 PM That's it! He writes:
"Brilliant! That is the scene I remember! I must get this movie. Thanks you very much. It feels so weird to have this memory for 25+ years and then finding out where it came from." Karma to Lil' Cerb for getting it first and to Cthulhu for confirming it with the youtube! |
