Title: Poultrygeist Post by: Andrew on July 27, 2009, 07:47:34 AM This is why you should never build a fried chicken restaurant on top of an ancient Indian burial ground.

I don't know how to respond to a movie such as this. I don't think I could make it through it with my sanity in good condition. On the other hand, I think I discovered the most insane movie ever created.
Anyways, good review as usual. Since it takes quite a while now for you to do a movie review, maybe it's time for a Guest Review? But besides that, I have two questions. How did you come across this film and how did it all end? Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: indianasmith on July 27, 2009, 04:13:22 PM The best thing Troma has done in a long, long time.
Or the worst. Depends on your point of view! Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: BoyScoutKevin on July 27, 2009, 05:06:27 PM Troma is so unsubtle, they are actually subtle.
Clearly, there are any number of restaurant chains featured in the film. Arbi = Arby's Wendy = Wendy's Denny = Denny's Carl jr. = Carl jr. After those here are some more possibilities. Paco Bell = Taco Bell Micki = Mickey D's = McDonald's General Lee Roy = Colonel Sanders = KFC Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: Jim H on July 27, 2009, 07:34:59 PM I'd definitely put this up as one of Troma's best. The best use of that stock car crash, BY FAR, at least.
It's possibly their funniest film too. I mean, it tried for laughs, and they actually WORKED. It's not like some Troma films where you're purely laughing AT the movie, a lot of this stuff works exactly as it was meant to. It's also their GORIEST film, which is saying something. And, easily, their most disgusting. So basically, I approve. I actually think 3 slimes is too low.. I'd give it an 8/10. My complaints are similar though - there's a few scenes of filler which could have been trimmed down, and some of the songs also slow the film down a little too much. Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: MaxNuclear on July 28, 2009, 05:30:21 AM My friends and I did a fake Poultrygeist commercial for our radio group Erratic Static back in the 80's! I love Tromo's trashy nature, so I just might have to get this one!
Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: SkullBat308 on July 28, 2009, 04:00:05 PM This looks amazing, I'm definitly picking this up!!!!!
Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: Goat Boy on July 28, 2009, 09:09:52 PM I'm totally with you on Micki. Most of the time she was on screen, I was just like "Dude, seriously, put your shirt back on!"
Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: ghouck on July 28, 2009, 10:21:59 PM BoyScoutKevin: There's another I picked up on: At the end of the song "Slow Fast Food Love", Arbi and Wendy make the signs for A&W, another hamburger joint (actually a rootbeer stand, but they sold burgers).
All in all I love this movie, it's totally trashy, and again, Troma sought out girls with the weirdest boobs they could find. I love the song "Slow Fast Food Love", as well as most of the musical scores. Cool little video edit. http://www.craptasticvoyage.com/video/PGLineDance.avi Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: p1zl3 on July 28, 2009, 11:20:02 PM Ugh... I could barely finish this travesty. It was as pleasurable as dry-humping a sandy cedar deck!
A good pick for a "worst movie ever" list though! :bouncegiggle: Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: Doggett on July 29, 2009, 08:11:01 AM I haven't seen this yet.
Freakin' £30 for the DVD :hatred: Grr... Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: Rev. Powell on August 01, 2009, 03:00:03 PM I haven't seen this yet. Freakin' £30 for the DVD :hatred: Grr... We have a concept called "rentals" here in the US... I thought it would have made it over the pond by now. Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: Daft Phully on August 01, 2009, 06:52:30 PM Oh God, this movie was vile. Really. And not funny. And there is no excuse for that. It made that zombie sheep flick look like Oscar material. I gave my three DVD set away so I would not die with that on my soul.
Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: Doggett on August 03, 2009, 03:53:05 AM I haven't seen this yet. Freakin' £30 for the DVD :hatred: Grr... It is now £129.99* !!!! :buggedout: I've never seen a place that rents Troma films. *I'm starting to regret not buying it when it was £30. Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: Tuan Jim on August 07, 2009, 11:24:48 PM Aren't most DVD players in the UK multi-region capable? Can't you just get the US dvd - or do they not handle NTSC -> PAL?
Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: Flu-Bird on August 15, 2009, 11:03:37 AM Combine them with the turkey headed guy from BLOODFREAK and you get the idea their messing with our intellegence
Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: Dave of the north on August 18, 2009, 10:46:57 AM After the review I rented this from Netflix, which inexplicably had it in its inventory. I was speechless afterward. I can however say that I have never seen anything like it and I hope to never do so again.
Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: Joanna on September 13, 2009, 03:12:24 PM To be honest, I haven't watched a Troma film in ages. The last one was Terror Firmer, which they claimed was based on Lloyd Kaufman's first book about Troma Studios. I think I wore out that book from the number of times I read it, it was so brilliant. Unfortunately, the alleged movie version had NOTHING to do with what was in the book. I guess it was an inside joke on the part of the studio itself, but I am still not amused. :hatred:
Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: bob on December 22, 2011, 07:05:12 AM I loath this movie
one of a handful I couldn't finish Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: ChunkeeOne on December 23, 2011, 07:32:27 AM Well, just reading this kinda made me think I'd vomit, so... I should definitely watch it when I get the chance. Thanks for the warning!
Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: CalrissianFoxxSteele on October 04, 2012, 12:31:01 AM Actually got to see this in the theater. Pretty graphic of course, but it would be a favorite Troma movie if it wasn't for it being a musical. Thought that it ruined it a lot.
Title: Re: Poultrygeist Post by: Torgo on March 18, 2013, 04:48:31 PM Poultrygeist was a lot of fun and the best thing that Troma had done in quite some time. I also found star Kate Graham to be unbelievably cute too!
