Title: Whats your name?
Post by: RCMerchant on August 01, 2009, 04:02:05 AM
Most people on boards use alias's. Some use there real name. I use my real  name -Ronald Christopher Merchant. If you feel uncomfertable saying so-is ok. I happen to know many members-by sending stuff-but I would never give out that info. If you feel like being open about it-meh-whats yer name?

William Samuel Adcock -- I usually go by "Bill."  Most variants are also acceptable.

And if I ever go to work in porn, I don't even have to change my name -- "Willie Adcock? Yes!"

My name is Edwin Albert Erwin.  Every year in school when the first roll was called the teacher would inevitably say "This must be typographical error".

I grew up as Eddie and that's still what people I grew up with and relatives still call me.  I started using Ed because it sounded more "grown-up", but now that I'm getting older I find I prefer the name I grew up with.

Quote
Colleen Mary Brady is a fictional character on the American soap opera Days of our Lives. Her story, seen in flashbacks through the reading of letters written between Santo DiMera and herself, is that of a romance with a man who was married when she met him. Colleen's great-niece, Sami Brady looks identical to Colleen and she is being portrayed by Alison Sweeney as young Colleen

Christopher

The name comes from the Saint of travelers.

He was a giant warrior who wanted to serve a leader worthy of his skill and strength. First he served his general, but there was someone above him.  The he served the general's king, but soon learned there was someone the king followed.  Next he followed Satan beliving him to be most powerful.  He soon found out there was someone that even the devil feared.

One day he was by river, a small child asked him to carry him across to the other side.  As he carried the child across, he felt a great weight across his shoulders that got heaver with each step.  When he got across, the child revealed himself to be Jesus, who told Christopher he had the weight of the world, and the one who made it on his shoulders.

Most versions of the story take place after the Resurrection, but I remember hearing a version where he was assiting Jesus, Mary, and Joesph across the river as they were fleeing King Herod.

Most scholars believe this to simply be a legend, as there is no real evidence Saint Christopher existed.

Now you know my name and some of the history behind it.

I'm not trying to convert anyone-I'm just trying to give information about the background of my name.

snap...

I used to have a gold-plated St.Christopher key-ring that was a present given to me at my christening when I was 6 months old...kept it for years in pristine condition then randomly sold it when I needed money to get home from uni after they chucked me out. really wish I hadn't sold it, probably the best 'key-ring' I've ever seen...ah well.

My name.

Is not contagious, yet it's spreading across the globe
Neither washing or gloves will protect you
For my name is everywhere, it's in the air
Somewhere everyday is spoken the syllables profane.
Of my name, O' friend robed in curiosity -
Know this: I am the anointed serpent
Nestled in Mother Earth's bosom,
Sitting upon the threshold of death;
For my name is a whisper upon the surf scattered wind,
An aegis shaped ornament dangling from an earlobe
Ever tapping your neck like a voodoo
Hangover teenage nightmare! It's a laithfu' corsair
Drinking mead in a taverna on Thira circa 1500 B.C.
Of my name, O' friend robed in curiosity-
Know this: it's not as great as Genghis Khan's
But it's mine, so you might as well like it;
This bit of verse you can festoon to a tree
For dog's to p**s on, but ne'er speak ill of

My name.

My first name is Jamey.
Everybody asks me if it's really James and if I just go by Jamey.
No, it's spelled like that on my birth certificate.

Funny thing about that...
Apparently, when the person at the hospital typed out my birth certificate back in 1974, they accidentally typed "James".
Either my mother or father pointed out the mistake and they used ink eradicator to cover up the "S" and then typed over it with a "Y".
The result is that the Y at the end of my name is in darker ink than the rest of the letters.
This has caused several incidents when I needed to show my birth certificate as proof of identity and they accused me of having doctored it.  Then I have to explain what happened.

I used to hate my name because technically, it's a unisex name.
All throughout my childhood, kids would say, "You have a girl's name!"
I like it now.  And if I have a daughter, I could name her "Jamie".
It's a very young sounding name.
It'll be weird later in life...a 70-80 year old man named Jamey.

By the way, my middle name is Ray.
Whenever I tell people that, they say it sounds like a redneck name and say it aloud in a southern drawl.

Jamey Ray.

Now I do, and have passed it on to my offspring, though to a girl.

My father wanted to name me after my godfather, who's first name was 'Buck'.

Mom did not approve.

My parents finally settled on naming me for his last name, which was 'Morris'.

So: Instead of 'Buck', my first name is 'Morris'.

I would have loved being named 'Buck'...  :bluesad:
