I don't think this is a horror movie.  it seemed very long and the overall notes seemed to be romance beyond the grave.  I can only remember certain scenes.  Apparently there was a house with a female ghost haunting it.  One scene shows a woman witnessing the ghost haunting as sort of like "The Ring" girl with no eyes.  In one scene the ghost pushed a man out the window.  Another scene has some people finding the ghost body and burying it.  When the body got buried in earth, the ghost form now changes and the ghost looks human and remember more.  Something about being buried did that.  There was another scene where a human sees the femal ghost, in normal human looking form dancing with a guy, don't know if the guy was another ghost or not.  I was young and some of the scenes scared me, but thinking back on it, I don't believe it was meant as a horror movie.

no, it's not high spirits, nice call though.  the move i'm thinking about about came out before thatone  and had a scarier, more somber tone, definitely not as comedic as high spirits

Oh well. I thought it might have been High Spirits because that also had a person who's pushed out a window, dancing with a ghost, and I seem to recall a scene where the ghost has no eyes.

Possibly "Ghost Story" from 1981.

i looked up ghost story, it's not that one either.  compared to ghost story, mine was not as scary and i don't believe it had major stars in it.  i'm really hooked on getting the name of this movie now.
