Title: Brett Favre
Post by: Zapranoth on August 19, 2009, 11:25:53 AM
I don't watch football (american) and don't find it interesting.

That said, from the very bottom of my heart, will Brett Favre please shut the **** up, retire from the public eye and go away?!?

   I agree. I really wish the people close to him would say you know what Brett? You're glory days are over its time to sit the rest of the game out. He's not doing it for the money or even the love of the game IMO he just wants to be in the limelight. He misses the attention.

As a Minnesota Vikings fan, the one positive thing I have to say is that he can't possibly be worse than our "current" quarterback, Tarvaris Jackson.  And I put "current" in quotes because he spent most of last season on the bench and the season before that he was injured.

Oh, a second positive thing:  It ticks off the cheeseheads.  I was just listening to them on the news last night:

I saw a link on MSN that was supposed to be the 'Timeline of Brett Farva's lies', but I'm at work and the state blocks everything sports-related. Although I have no interest in football, I was kind of intrigued, bur I really don't know his story.

His story can be thus summarized:

1.  Hold a big boo hoo press conference about how he's gonna retire,
2.  Waffle about it (in media coverage for a while),
3.  Sign for another season,
4.  Hold more press conferences about whether or not he should have retired, and whether or not he'll retire after the current season,

lather, rinse, repeat.  Seriously, I don't even like football and I have a certain ire for the guy -- he is such an attention whore.

That's it? Shoot, I was expecting some knocked-up-a-supermodel, DWI with a weapon and a gram of coke, penguin barbecuing, injecting steroids into his ballbag, found a dead hooker in his trunk, wife dating a teenage girl, threatened a baby with a machine gun while high on meth, broke out of jail and went to rehab only to break out of there also, dating a pornstar, has HepC, girlfriend burned down his $24 million dollar mansion, bit the head off a spotted owl kind of story. Pfffft.

He gets all teary and weepy during the press conferences..  each time... and he blathers about how he loves the game, how he loves his family, how it's tearin' him all up inside...

(Am I missing anything anyone?)
