I recall an ABC Movie of the Week film with Ray Milland that creeped me out as a kid...1969... A gang of clever Dobies with names like 'Clyde', Bonnie', Dillinger', etc. are trained by a group of misfits (including a hippie and a Vietnam vet, of course) to rob banks. Great theme song has lyrics like "They are known as man's best friiiiend - n' public enemy number one.. Arf arf. Arf. I actually just download The Phantom Creeps from Archive.org. I really like it. Also, Werewolf Versus the Vampire Woman seems to be pretty underrated. I'm very suprised that not many people know about it, despite it being probably the best comic book to film adaptions ever made. It got everything right about it capturing the look, feel, story telling, and scenery of the comic series and comic books in general, but no one really seems to talk about it at all. Animal Farm (1954) I'm not surprised this film has been forgotten over the years, but it really is sad that no one seems to know about it. I blame the live acted verison from the 90s that distracts people from this verison. It maybe because it is animated or most of the film is completely narratored, but no one speaks of it. It probably is one of the best book to movie adaptions out there, though the ending was changed compared to the book. The Thing from Another World (1951) I'll admit it, I never even heard about this movie until last year. I always assumed that The Thing was just a stand alone movie and not a remake. Maybe that's why it is sort of forgotten by people, because they don't realize that there was an original (that's my excuse and theory) Twice Upon A Time (1983) Really, does anyone (Outside of Derf, WingedSeperent, and myself on this site) even remember that this movie exists? I started with my family, but my mom refuses to watch anything black & white (ignorance!!) and when my dad saw it, he didn't think much of it. I tried to show one my friends (A big movie fan who is planning to be a film critic in the future) who is a fan of sci-fi flicks, but when he saw it and reported back, he said he didn't really like it! It is so hard trying to educate people, especially the people who you think would actually take the time to listen to you. The movie predates Airplane! by 4 years and it actually follows the same playbook. You would think that David Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and Jerry Zucker has rewritten/plagiarize the Big Bus story and took full credit for Airplane! Creepy movie about a socially awkward teenage who accidentally kills a young girl who is tormenting him, then whose mother hides him out in a hidden space inside their house. After the mother dies from a routine surgery, Ronald stays hidden and grows progressively strange and lives in a fantasy world and whose drawings on the walls feature a princess that is his true love. Soon a new family moves in and her remains hidden, spying on the family and sneaking out at night to steal food. He soon becomes obsessed with one of the teenage daughters and sees her as his pincess.
This movie was ahead of it's time. If somebody wanted to remake it, or outright steal the story it would be pretty easy because this is definately a forgotten film that very few know about. It's a great concept and would work well today. Zeppelin (1971) is a war story and The Hindenburg (1975) is a disaster flick...
