So it looks like Green Lantern movie is actually getting made.  Hal Jordan was cast. ( It was Ryan Renolds-I have my opinion about that, but for another time).  They apparently had a script, and production had even started.  And then...

For money, or some other reason-the movie production has halted.  Wonderful.

I've been reading Green Lantern ever since they introduced Kyle Rayner.  I have nothing against Hal, but Kyle's my favorite.  The last few years of Green Lantern comics have been awsome-with incredible story lines like Sinestro Corp and Blackest Night.  I was psyched about the movie being made.  And now this.

And no sooner did GL fall through-but two more DC movies have been announced.  Lobo and Deadman.  Lobo and Deadman?

Nothing agaisnt these characters (ok that's not entirely true, I think Lobo is over-rated.  I know why he's liked, but he never appealed to me)  But the time for a Green Lantern movie was so right.  The Green Lantern Corp storylines have never been stronger.  Loyal fans were seeing their character get the respect they deserved.  DC comics was giving us our long awaited movie-and now its in poduction hell.  Most likely never to surface.

I say this because DC has a long tradition of screwing over characters that arn't Batman or Superman.  Yes, I understand that those two are the most visable DC comic properties, but for evey one item (movie, action figure, game) based on some other DC hero-there's 20 devoted to the World's Finest heroes.  It gets to be a little much after a while.

Not to mention that the Wonder Woman and Justice League movie were also getting made, and then fell through the cracks. Gaaaaah!

Sorry about that guys.  I just needed to get that off my chest.

If it means Ryan Reynolds won't be GL, it's a good thing.

Wonder Woman is a very complicated character. As I know of, and who doesn't, Batman and Superman, I decided to by a children's encyclopedia to Wonder woman.

I got totally confused !
I'm 22 and this book was for 8-12 year olds !

I found it really complicated to get into, it's less of a modern hero and owes more to old Greek legends. I think WB want a hero that would fit easily in the modern day and age. I'm just not sure you can do that with WW. At least not in the first film, to do her justice, I think it would have to be a sand and sandals film. Audiences might not go for that. I'm also glad that they rejected Joss Whedon's scrpit as I find he over writes characters too much to make them seem cool amnd peppy. Instead, I just find his characters annoying.


That being said, I've heard the animated film that came out this year is very good. I'll have to give it a look.
