Title: Something killing my IE
Post by: Ed, Ego and Superego on September 13, 2009, 01:14:18 PM
One of the ads or something else on the Pink Angels review page (accessed 9/13/09) is killing my browser.   No details beyond that, sorry.

Which browser ... Internet Explorer? ... or Firefox, Maxthon?

Im thinking its a flash ad. If so you need flash player 10.

How is it killing it? ... You mean crashing it? Slowing down?

Is your computer fully updated? ... that's very important.

I have replicated this using IE 8 and Flash 9 (thanks for thinking of Flash, Venomx), and am trying to chase it down now.  IE stops, and you get the "Not Responding" notification about the program.

Unfortunately, it is almost certainly an ad that caused this.  Upgrading to Flash 10 might avoid whatever caused the error.  I didn't experience it on a computer running Flash 10, but that could also be caused by frequency capping for the ad.

At this time I believe that this was being caused by the javascript trick I used to display the ads, but not load them until the entire page had loaded (so you were not waiting on an ad to read the page).  I removed all of that, and the problem seems to have cleared up.  I did a lot of testing before and after.
