Title: DEADGIRL (2008)
Post by: indianasmith on September 18, 2009, 06:15:40 AM
OK, guys, this is one of the most genuinely disturbing, twisted, ugly, and thoughtful horror films I have ever seen.  Certainly it is head and shoulders above any of the current crop of slasher remakes and torture porn that seems to comprise the horror genre.  It's that rarest of creatures, an independent film I actually liked!

Rickie and J.T. are two disaffected, angst-ridden high school kids (and yes, they both look more like they are 25 than in high school) who decide to ditch school and go get drunk one afternoon.  Looking for a place to hang out, they decide to go investigate an abandoned mental hospital on the outskirts of town.  They drink and vandalize and have a grand old time, till they run into a guard dog that chases them down into the basement.  There they find a secret passage with a long-sealed room at the end of it.  Forcing the door, they find inside the room the corpse of a naked girl chained to a bed.  Except that she's not dead - not exactly, anyway.  She moves and breathes and responds to touch, but cannot talk.  Rickie wants to go to the cops, but J.T. wants to . . . "Keep her" is how he puts it.  He starts to touch her in a more intimate way, and Rickie bails out and goes home.  But the next day J.T. comes and tells him that he HAS TO show him something about her.  They go back to the abandoned hospital, and J.T. explains that when he touched her, she started trying to bite him, so he hit her - again and again, harder and harder, until she quit.  Rickie accuses him of kiilling her, and J.T. laughs and pulls out a gun when they get down to the room - and shoots her three times!  SHE KEEPS MOVING, BREATHING, AND TURNING HER HEAD.  That's right - these teenage boys have got them a captive zombie sex slave!
But of course, everyone knows that teenage boys CANNOT keep a secret.  Not to mention that Rickie is still having doubts about the whole thing.  The movie gets darker and darker and proceeds to a downright chilling conclusion.  This is a dark, grim horror film that will really make you thingk about human nature.  I think Romero himself would be proud of this one.  You really need to check it out!

That sounds pretty interesting - I'll put it on the wishlist.

For those who have Net Flix, it's an On Demand title if you don't want to wait.  It was one of a handful of films I thought about watching the other day, but ended up falling asleep before I could watch anything.  ;P

It's a very different kind of movie, and parts are hard to watch

(did I mention a weenie-chomping scene?)

But it is definitely a change of pace, and as disturbing as anything I have seen in a long time

I've read a few other positive reviews for this movie on some DVD review sites. Talk about a sick premise! I'll have to check it out at some point.

There's an excellent chance I'll watch this if I can squeeze it in.
