Title: I didn't know there was a sequel!
Post by: Nukie 2 on September 21, 2009, 06:03:46 PM
I was in Best Buy today, and on the shelf I saw "Inglorious Bastards 2: Hells Heros", when I found out it had Miles O'Keefe in it, I had to  put it on my netflix que. Check out the DVD cover, and tagline!

The Scorpion King had a sequel, starring Randy Couture, the mixed martial arts champion:

Starship Troopers had a second sequel.  Even I, one of the 15 people who liked Starship Troopers 2, haven't given this one a chance yet:

Cannonball Run had a SECOND sequel, called 'Speed Zone'. I hear it is horrible.

The Hidden had a sequel, which pretty much takes the somewhat "happy" ending of the first one, p**ses all over it, and then gives us a lousy movie to bout.

Also, there was a FOURTH Omen film.

Actually, It has nothing to do with the original. This one takes place in 'nam.

Also, there was a FOURTH Omen film.

I have it.  It's part of an OMEN DVD boxed set.  I only watched it once and I seem to remember it doesn't have much (if anything) to do with the original trilogy.  Instead of Damien, I believe the evil kid is a girl.

Camp Blood (1999) has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I never knew they made two sequels until I bought part 3 (titled Within the Woods) at the bin three or four years ago.

Well, the original one wasn't exactly the pinnacle of cinema either.  I dare to say that if someone hadn't come up with the idea of doing a "live performance" along with the show, it would have quickly disappeared from everyone's minds.

But, I could be wrong...

Maybe.  I saw Rocky Horror on DVD without any sort of Audience Participation, before I saw it in the theater.  I loved it on DVD, I didn't know of the AP at all.  I probably would have been happy just watching it like that.  And then I found out about the Audience Participation...

Also, while most people know that there were two sequels to Sleepaway Camp, there's also been a FOURTH movie released.

Also been a lot of direct to video sequels of various movies you may not have heard of (most probably with good reason), 8MM 2, two sequels to Wild Things, prequel to Ong Bak (not sure if that's out yet or not), another Stir of Echoes film, White Noise 2, two sequels to Butterfly Effect (second SUCKED, haven't seen the third), Half Past Dead 2 (which will appeal to all seven people who saw the original), The Arrival part 2, and so on and so forth...

prequel to Ong Bak (not sure if that's out yet or not)

It's out.  I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the first Ong Bak's story line.  It still has Tony Jaa in it though.

I think Starship Troopers 3 does not deserve the bad rep it has, most people seem to immediately dismiss it on the grounds that it's low budget (these being the same people who don't seem to see a lot of movies past what appears in their local cinema), it's actually very good, and an entertaining successor to the original movie.

I kinda wanna like Starship Troopers 2 as a small sidestory, but everything about it is so poorly made and not compelling in the slightest.

Sez you.

Also... my eyebrow cocked when I found out there was a sequel to 8MM. Imaginatively titled... (wait for it)... 8MM 2. Brilliant. Conveniently, it has absolutely nothing to do with the first movie, or snuff, or the porn industry in general. It's about a politician being blackmailed after making a sex tape or something. It stars the guy who played the lead vampire in The Forsaken, that's all I really remember him from.

Ugh.

"Beethoven"
five sequels.
The last four straight to video.

"Home Alone"

The last was a movie made for TV.

"The Karate Kid"
three sequels.
and a remake "The Kung Fu Kid."

"Look Who's Talking"

and a spinoff "Baby Talk"

"Police Academy"
six sequels.

I had no idea that there were so many Children of the Corn sequels until Syfy ran a bunch the other day.

Children of the Corn
Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice
Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest
Children of the Corn: The Gathering
Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror
Children of the Corn 666: Isaac's Return
Children of the Corn: Revelation
Children of the Corn (TV remake)

The only one I ever saw was the first one.

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989) has two sequels: Honey, I Blew Up the Kid and Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves plus it also spawned a TV series.

With the Addams Family based upon Charles Addams cartoons, there was the 1960s TV series The Addams Family, a TV Reunion Movie Halloween with the New Addams Family (1977), The hit 90s films The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993). There there was the direct to video Addams Family Reunion (1998) which starred Tim Curry as Gomez and acted as a pilot for the Canadian produced The New Addams Family TV series in 1998-1999. There were also at least two cartoon series based upon the characters.

King Kong Lives was the gaddawful sequel to some would argue almost as awful itself 1976's King Kong.

The Omen (1976) spawned Damien: Omen II, The Final Conflict: Omen III and Omen IV: The Awakening and a remake.

Prom Night (1980) led to Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II, Prom Night III: The Last Kiss and Prom Night IV: Deliver Us From Evil and the 2008 remake.

Need we mention the Friday the 13th series

Psycho 2, 3, and 4

Terror Toons 2 and 3

Bruno Mattei also did unauthorized "sequels" to The Terminator and Jaws (Cruel Jaws, sometimes referred to has Jaws 5).

Butterfly Effect: Revelation (third movie)

The Prophecy has 2-5

Hellraiser made it's way to eight films.

Also, there were two sequels to Sometimes They Come Back, which is weird cause the first (which I haven't seen) is based on a SHORT story by Steven King (how you could stretch a short short to three movies is beyond me.)

Course, I'm told the third film was actually supposed to be a different movie entirely, but they just slapped a couple of STCB elements into and gave it a re-title to capitalize on the series "success".

Oh, man.. makes me head hurt.

I'm suddenly reminded of this article I read years ago in Mad Magazine that gave synopsis to possible Titanic sequels.  It was meant as a ridiculous joke, but I'm starting to wonder how far off from reality that could be...

There is technically an unofficial sequel to Riki-Oh, in which the characters' names are changed, but it's quite obviously following on from the manga in which Riki-Oh leaves the prison, it even stars the same main actor.

It's very difficult to find, but it's a spectacularly bad film, looking like it was filmed on a digital family camera and containing no gore.

Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) has four more sequels.

The Grudge (2004), itself a remake of Ju-On: The Grudge spawned two sequels The Grudge 2 and The Grudge 3

With Ju-on (2000), there's Ju-on 2 (2000), Ju-on: the Grudge (2003), Ju-on: The Grudge 2 (2003)

Like the Grudge, The Ring series featured remakes of Japanese Ringu films:

The Ring J-Horror Films

Ring: Kanzenban (1995)
Ring (1998)
Ring 2 (1999)
Ring 0: Birthday (2000)
Rasen (1998)

The Ring TV Dramas

Ring: The Final Chapter (1999)
Rasen (1999)

The Ring Series of Horror Films

The Ring (2002)
The Ring Two (2005)

The Ring Three (2011) is planned too.

(how you could stretch a short short to three movies is beyond me.)

The movie The Neverending Story is based on the first half of the novel.  The second movie has the idea of the second half (Bastion losing his memories with every wish me makes), but bases that totally into the events that are described in a couple paragraphs (the evil queen and her army attacking the Child-Like Emporess) and adds the whole part about the evil queen stealing Bastion's memories.

And entire movie can be made from only a couple paragraphs.

I've come to this website for a long time but now I finally signed up!

There are so many crazy sequels that people don't know about, a lot of them are cool and a lot of them really suck. It depends on how much effort is actually put into the film; is it just a cheap garbage movie made to bank in on the 'brand name,' like with Wishmaster 3 or is it something that the studio and director actually made some effort with, as in Wishmaster 4.

In my opinion, Wishmaster 3 was pure garbage but Wishmaster 4 was actually interesting; it really had nothing much to do with Wishmasters 1 and 2 but was a good cheap movie in it's own way.

There's a sixth Leprechaun movie called "Leprechaun: Back 2 da hood"

Cruel Intentions 3
From Dusk Till Dawn 3
Anaconda 3 (with Hassle the Hoff!)
Devil in the Flesh 2
Freeway 2
The Mangler 2

Lots of others could make the list

Basket Case had 2 sequels
Candyman had 2 sequels
The Blair Witch had a sequel called Book of Shadows
Class of Nuke 'Em High had 2 sequels

Pumpkinhead had 3 sequels
Cyborg had 2 sequels, the first one with Angelina Jolie
Night of the Demons, I believe, has 3 sequels and a remake
Maniac Cop, 2 sequels
Slumber Party Massacre, 3 sequels plus 2 Cheerleader Massacre movies
Urban Legend, 2 sequels
Kickboxer and it's dreaded 4 sequels

Let's not also forget how much Abbott and Costello movies are out there, or even Carry On comedy films (eg. Carry on Cleo, Carry On Screaming, Carry On Teacher)
