Title: PANDORUM
Post by: WingedSerpent on September 27, 2009, 06:12:57 PM
About 20 minutes into this movie, I was thinking..."Is this based off of a video game I never heard of?"

It is essentially Deep Space the movie although the creators couldn't get the Deep Space rights.  So they decided to make a movie version and change it enough not to get into copywright issues.

It starts out with our main charachter Bower waking up from a cryogenic sleep.  He's been asleep for a long time on a spac ship carrying the last chance for humanity to its new home.  He has trouble remembering anything, as the ship seems to be ddead in space.  After waking up his commanding officer he has to get to the core of the ship.

Cue the strange creatures that have taken over the ship.  They look like the fighting uriki from LOTR mixed with some Resistence:Fall of Man creatures.

Like I said, this movie has the feeling of a bad video game movie.  All the elements are there, from Bower receving instructions from his commanding officer in the control room, to the look of the creatures, the hot martial art woman, to the pump-action technology on the ship. (I'm not a rocket scientist, but I'm pretty sure command counsels aren't wind-up.)

Some cliche characters, some twists but what you end up with is a mediocre horror in space movie. Wait for the DVD or when it gets puton TV.  Either way, your not going to hate yourself for missing this one.

That's good.  I was going to go see it today, but the showtime on the website was wrong, so we ended up going to The Informant instead.

I hate video game movies...   (http://fc00.deviantart.com/fs32/f/2008/213/0/9/_shudder__Emoticon_by_Dan14Lev.gif)

As long as it's mediocre, that's good enough for me  :teddyr:  Hot martial arts chick too.  I'm sure I'll pick it up on DVD when I find a used copy for cheap.
