Waaayyy freakin' overdue!!  Does everyone else here realize that without him, such geniuses as Ingmar Bergman may have ended up waxing away in obscurity, or giving up film altogether?  Corman was the original US distributor for "Cries and Whispers", which was a make-or-break film for Bergman, financially speaking.  Corman saved Bergman's career, pretty much.  Corman also was the US distributor for early Fellini and Kurosawa.  Without Corman, a lot of foreign Art-House directors that we take for granted today would never have achieved a wider audience.  Notice I'm not even mentioning his inflence on Coppola, Dante, etc. etc., as this will doubtless be done to death Oscar night - I just hope Steve Martin manages to mention the Bergman connection as well -
