Maybe this time they can hide the strings on those goofy robots.

Travis Beacham ("Killing on Carnival Row," "Clash of the Titans") will pen the script for the new film which will include the red robot Maximilian and be much more grounded in real science about black holes. Other details are being kept secret.
Soooooo..... Basically the film is about an idiot who doesn't know that he's gonna be reduced to a singularity? ._.

Anyhow, I hope that doesn't kill the excellent fantasy elements/artistic/sci-fi terror feel from the first! With that plus a more seriously-handled plot Black Hole could be downright classic.

hehe Doc Daneeka that was such a funny remark that I had to look up Black Hole and Singularity to find out what they mean by "and be much more grounded in real science about black holes."  :)

According to general relativity, the initial state of the universe, at the beginning of the Big Bang, was a singularity. ~ Wikipedia

I'm going to assume that the Mad Doctor/God complex will lead to an idea to start a new Big Bang. Assuming if the Big Bang Theory was closely correct to the creation of the universe. The character will have something he/she thinks will start the chain reaction and willing to risk their life, or the human-robots...

I'm not sure if a Black Hole remake is a good idea, its was very dark for Disney from the late 1970's and seeing how Disney is going back to good ol family fun, it doesnt seem fit.

Agree. The original's ending was dark and surreal despite the dodgy science, I fear they will be too literal. Plus how could you better that musical score?

hehe... from what I know Horror fans of the late 1970's missed Black Hole (since many assumed it was another Witch Mountain because it was a Disney movie) and Tourist Trap (1979) because it was given a PG rating... :)

Maximilian is a badass robot

I think he could kick terminator's butt

I liked it, but I know alot of people who didn't. They were expecting something similiar to "Star Wars," and when they didn't get it, they were disappointed.

I also know at that time there were complaints that it was too derivative of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea."

I also remember that they had trouble coming up with an ending for the film. The ending in the novelization of the film, which is usually based on an early script was nothing like the ending used in the final cut of the film.

I on the other hand saw it and liked it. I especially like the scene set in the shooting gallery, where V.I.N.CENT beats S.T.A.R. in a shooting competition and S.T.A.R. blows a fuse. Fell on the floor at that one.

Anyway since we are talking about possible remakes and sequels . . .

After all this time we are finally getting a "Tron 2," which should be out sometime next year.

Robert Zemeckis is working on a spec script for a sequel to "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"

And Steve Guttenberg is working on a spec script for a sequel to "Three Men and a Baby" called "Three Men and a Bride" to star him, Ted Danson, and Tom Selleck.
