Title: Don't you just love it when movie stores close down...
Post by: SPazzo on December 20, 2009, 03:07:45 PM
...so you can buy up all of their movies in the Liquidation Sale?  I got Snakes on a Train, Transmorphers, Alien Abduction (All of those are Asylum), plus Robocop: Meltdown, and The Haunted World of El Superbeasto.  I ended up paying $15.26 total.

Anyone ever been to a closing sale?  Any good stories?

I got some cheap DVDs when Circuit City went out of business.  I remember doing a comparison online (I checked the prices I paid against what 2 or 3 online retailers were charging) and I ended up saving a good amount of money.  I don't remember exactly how much, but it was definitely worth it.

I have this theory that as soon as they all close Redbox will start charging $5 a movie.

Blockbuster isn't closing down in my town, but they have a great sale always happening.  Buy 5 $9 movies, get them all for $20!  So, I got Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus, Sharks in Venice, Wonder Woman, Hellboy: Sword of Storms, and The Spirit.

Also, another place, Family Video, was selling off some of there old DVDs and VHS's.  I got  Ghost in the Shell 1 & 2, The Shaft, and 2 Cardcaptors VHS for less than 25!  I love deals!

I bought a good bit from Circuit City when then closed down, but I didn't buy any movies, I ended up just buying a lot of video games and stuff for my Nintendo DS.  I know I made at least 3 or 4 trips there just to get the deals.
