Title: BEST MOVIES of 2009 NOMINATION THREAD
Post by: Rev. Powell on December 21, 2009, 01:22:40 PM
Well, it's that time of year again: time to vote on the best movies of the year!  Sorry, I'm a little late getting the thread started this year.

Here's how it works: I'll leave this thread open for you guys to make nominations for the best movie of 2009.  Then, the day after Christmas I'll place all the nominations together in a poll and let the community vote for the official badmovie.org best movie of 2009.

My nomination this year is for THE HURT LOCKER, one of the best war movies I've seen.  The action sequences are incredibly suspenseful; the main character stretches believability just a little bit, but he was still fascinating.  My runner-up goes to the Coen brothers' A SERIOUS MAN.

So let's nominate some GOOD movies!

The Story Of Anvil for me.

The only film I thought was any good this year. It was honest, genuine and the subject matter focused on something close to my heart. It wasn't made to make cash from hordes of dumb teenagers and wasn't made on a damn computer!

I tend to only watch eye-candy movies in the theater. The really good art-house stuff I generally see on DVD release. Mostly that's because I have to drive a really long way to get to the indie theaters. So if you ask me what the best movie of 2009 was a year from now, I will have a different answer.

That said, I'm going to say:

Best Overall: Inglourious Basterds
Funnest: Zombieland
Best Indie Film: Moon
Best Animated: Up
Best Good Movie That Should Not Have Been: Where the Wild Things Are

I also think most of the franchises were good this year: Harry Potter, Star Trek, Terminator. Not Wolverine, though, that should have been so much better.

Up is my favorite film of the year.  It isn't as good as Wall-E was visually or had as a good of a soundtrack, but the story telling and characters make up for any flaw it has.

My other favorite was Alien Trespass.  It was just great with how they brought everything to life in that film.  All the characters, the location, the styles & Trends, and even the way people talked were perfectly matched.

The Informant!

I enjoyed it; it got a lot of haters because it was slower than the Ocean's movies, but it was still really good.  (My second pick was Up, but it was already mentioned, twice.)

Although it had it's flaws I enjoyed Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince.  I also have to hand it to Watchmen which I totally forgot came out this year.

Pixar's UP is the best movie of the year IMO.

For me, it's a toss-up between District 9, and Up.
