When i was a small child a film was going to air on television. there was alot of hoopla about it. i was forbidden to view it. The monster had the ability to camouflage (or hide well). Early/Mid 90s

One obvious guess would be Predator (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093773/).

"mans best friend" comes to mind as well, its most likely predator though.

Predator or Predator 2, most likely.  Predator came out in 1987, Predator 2 in 1990.

NOT predator. Im talking about a TV movie. Released on TV. 1995-1996. Slender Monster.

If the monster looked like kind of like the monsters from Tremors, could be Not of this World.

If the monster was humanoid, could be DNA.  It's not a TV movie, but could be mistaken for one.  It's pretty cheap.

Nope not either of those. But the creature was humanoid. All i saw was the trailer and a teenage boy got his finger degloved.

It really depends on the "monster" it could be a Predator rip-off. But I suspect the movie is more of the early cgi effects using Terminator 2 [T2] special effects for stalking (maybe without the morphing ability). Sorry, there is a ton of these movies made between [T2] to 1997 (ok I'm guessing), but there are several that was made-for-cable (Scifi, USA, HBO) many I know I have not seen or even plan to see and lets not forget X-Files...

Tracking this one down could be very difficult, as you never saw the film.  Maybe the monster could cloak, maybe it was just really good at camouflage.  It would help if you could remember anything else.  Was it a science fiction setting or set in a city or a forest?  Anything about the main characters.  Any piece of the movie's tagline you remember.  Also if it was on regular TV or a cable channel.

Some possibilities:

"Within the Rock" (1996)
"Shadowzone" (1990)
"Dark Universe" (1993)

What do you mean about a boy getting his finger degloved?  He was wearing a glove and the monster ripped the glove off of just the finger?

Nope. Too far back. Mid-90s release date. the Creature Resembled the one from DNA but it was thinner. Almost Like a Xenomorph from the Alien series.

Did it look similar to "Reptile" from the Mortal Kombat movie?

actually yes. It looked alot like reptile. oh god, those movies were terrible.

I am thinking three possibilities:

"A Nightmare on Elm Street" (any of the movies) (the only thing is Freddy Krueger looks nothing like Reptile from the Mortal Kombat movies) (you might have already discovered the movie you are looking for if it was one of the Freddy movies)

"Beyond Dream's Door" (very early 80s obscure horror movie) (this was also a nightmare horror movie; it did not have a teenage boy, it had a boy from college as the film's main victim, but the monster was reptile like, and had the ability to hide very well, but there was nothing about camouflage)

"Dreamscape" (there was a segment of a young boy and a Snake Man, as with here, it was also a dream horror movie, and the monster as with the previous had reptile-like features, since snakes are obviously reptiles; however, as with the previous, the monster did not have the ability to camouflage or hide itself very well, but just guessing)

This was not a Stephen King movie by any chance was it? It could have been "Salem's Lot" or "Creepshow", or one of their sequels.

It does sound a lot like Mimic. Wasn't there a sequel or two for that as well?

There was a sequel in 2001.  Most of the movie plays out like a creepy stalker, until we find out that the stalker is actually one of the humanoid cockroach things.

There was also apparently a third film called "Mimic:  Sentinel"

What was the name of the film with the weird killer who could blend in like a chameleon?   Could that be the mystery film?

im researching those titles now. Keep in mind my earlier comments.
1. In the trailer a teenage boy gets his finger degloved.
2. The Monster looked similar to Reptile from the Mortal Kombat films ( Which Sucked )
3. Unless one of the Mimic films had a monster that looked like the above, ITS NOT MIMIC.

I am baffled..... anything more you can give us, no matter how tiny the detail could ignite someone's memory here. Is there anything else you remember from the trailer?

Trailer : Teenage couple walking near bushes ( i think  in a park ) the boy raises his finger to find its degloved ( or really screwed up )
the creature ( which looked like reptile from the MK films ) was blending into the grass ( or shrubs )
