Title: What Are Movie Killers are Thinking? Post by: InformationGeek on January 09, 2010, 06:35:23 PM I was just watching this clip of Whose Line when they are playing Scenes From A Hat:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8epLcjlBYA At 0:44, a suggestion was "What Slasher Movie Villians Are Really Thinking While They Are Waiting to Pop Out." That made me think. What do you guys think these guys are thinking about while they are just hiding? Title: Re: What Are Movie Killers are Thinking? Post by: Psycho Circus on January 09, 2010, 06:46:39 PM Seems quite a deep question really. I suppose it would depend on the background of the "killer" in particular. Take Jason Vorhees for example - he suffered from childhood trauma (bullying/drowning!), the death of his mother and quite clearly sexual frustration, so he's pretty driven to commit murder. The constant forces of anger breeding the constant need for revenge.
The same will go for Freddy, as he's out for revenge also. The obvious thing that makes it all so easy is that we are already aware that these dudes are pure evil anyway, so the viewer has no sympathy for them. (This has changed over the years with so many horror films though, due to inventive deaths for the gore-hounds and increasingly annoying teenage fodder.) Then there's those will simply get off on the kills, like it's almost a sexual release. They feed off the adrenaline, the thrill of the chase or the anticipation of waiting within the shadows. I believe most of the movie maniacs have gone beyond the edge and that nothing would enter their minds at all. They've become totally emotionless killing machines. As far as what the killers are thinking, I thought that Manhunter was a great example of the serial killer mode of thought. The scenes with William Petersen working his way through the killer's thoughts are simultaneously great and silly at the same time. (Why talk out loud?) The ecstasy of the killer was very well communicated, especially the later scenes when his lady friend supposedly cheated. That was a very good movie. The later remake Red Dragon was not as good. Title: Re: What Are Movie Killers are Thinking? Post by: Skull on January 11, 2010, 12:58:08 PM It really depends on the movie...
Pieces, the killer was thinking about connecting the missing piece to his living puzzle. The Prowler, the killer was thinking his hatred towards the girl that dumped him and his feelings revised 30 years later. And Soon the Darkness, the killer thought the girl all alone was easy prey. The Unseen, the killer was lonly and looking for play friends. Title: Re: What Are Movie Killers are Thinking? Post by: vukxfiles on January 11, 2010, 01:09:55 PM Take Jeffrey Dahmer for example, he was just lonely and looked for gay men he could kill and have sex with (not the other way around). He was just human after all, everyone feels that urge.
The above statement is a load of horsecrap that "ethical" people want us to think. Title: Re: What Are Movie Killers are Thinking? Title: Re: What Are Movie Killers are Thinking? Post by: peter johnson on January 15, 2010, 01:50:52 AM Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" -
Often referenced re. Ed Gein - The entire classical premise of serial killer thinking is that there is an "Other" who has taken control of them re. "Son of Sam", and so they are nothing more than shells for the given Thought. The killer who must kill and kill again, may be genetic, as we have ample evidence of our beserker warriors going back thousands of years. Maybe there is some reaction to a genetic past, re. DNA. Otherwise, in the really bad ones that we love, there is no actual thought involved, and the guys or gals are simply killing . . . killing . . . Killing! because that is them what they is. Don't stab them to death and play around with their corpse this time. I'll never make any friends if I keep doing that. Just say hi and introduce yourself. Don't kill them this time."

Freddy Kruger - "At this rate, I'll never get my sleep center off the ground." Michael Myers - "Damn it mom, I told you I didn't want to wear that clown costume for Halloween. I wanted to be Captain Kirk." Count Dracula - "Damn Victorian Era sexual repression. All I really wanted to do is make a few booty calls." Leatherface - "I could feed my family for days. Maybe try out a few new recipes." Ghost Face Killer - "Who am I in this one? I forget myself after so many." Title: Re: What Are Movie Killers are Thinking?
