Title: Re: Word of the Day Post by: Derf on January 12, 2010, 10:43:24 PM My favorite semi-real word is hippopotomonstrosesquipedalianism. It basically means a love of big words. And I say it's semi-real because the "hippopotomonstro" part really doesn't add any meaning whatsoever; "sesquipedalianism" means the same thing. :teddyr:

"Rape" I've been using it to describe what Hollywood did to The Lightning Thief. :bluesad: A little off topic, but I was thinking of seeing this film. While I am familiar with the series of books upon which the film is supposedly based, I have yet to read any of them. I also know that they did an interview with the screenwriter who wrote the screenplay for the film, and one of the troubles he said he had writing the screenplay from the books was that the books were written for an young audience, even younger than the audience for Harry Potter. But if the word "rape" is used as a description of how the film turned out, maybe I save my money and forget about seeing the film.
