I thought he gave an outstanding performance. I was waiting for the twist...but it never came...i guess the 'lack' of a twist, WAS the twist! They should have added 15-20 minutes to the end and shown us what happens to him when he gets there.

I haven't seen such an unemotionally emotional computer on screen in a while... Great directorial debut from the son of David Bowie. Sam Rockwell is great, he really nails the role in all of its guises. Plus it has a neat ambient soundtrack from Clint Mansell (former lead singer of Pop Will Eat Itself one of my favorite bands), who also did the music Pi, Requiem For A Dream ect...ect...
This really brings back memories for me of some of the thinking Science Fiction of the 70s, Silent Running, THX-1138. Between District 9, Avatar, and this 2009 was a good year for sci-fi. |
