Title: Cheap-but-Flame-y Explosions
Post by: Terf on January 16, 2010, 02:14:25 PM
Hey, I don't post here very often anymore, but a few of my college [film major] buddies [I'm not film] are working on a short action film. I'm not directly affiliated with the project, but I just wanted to see if you guys could give me any information on a relatively cheap substance that would create large flames [and of course, something that could be set off at a distance, if even with a regular old fuse].

The idea for the scene is that [spoiler warning :tongueout:] the good guy has activated a homemade bomb the bad guy was carrying, then shoves him off the cliff. So of course, the bomb doesn't go off until the moment that the baddie hits the ground. [Maybe it will act as an impact grenade or some other explosive that doesn't go off except under intense pressure.]

So again, any ideas? Would propane work? Gasoline under pressure?
[And add in any safety details. That's very important.]

Thanks so much. This has been an interesting subject for me, ever since I started watching action movies.
