Title: Groundhog Day (1993)
Post by: SPazzo on February 03, 2010, 03:08:04 AM
I guess it's a little late to bring this movie up (I was busy today).  Anyway, I really do enjoy this movie, and I watch it every year.  Honestly, it is pretty cheesy in some parts, but the message does sort of make up for that.

I really do enjoy this movie, even after 17 years.  We still have the VHS tape; I think it might have been stolen from Blockbuster.  At least it still has the Blockbuster sticker on it.  Maybe it was for sale.

If you haven't seen it, I would totally recommend it.

I love Groundhog Day.  I think it's a great film, one of my favorites.  A 10/10 from me.  It's also a film that just gets better on repeat views.

Ironic, isn't it?

I agree with Jim H -- I was about to say the same thing.  I thought it was only pretty good when it first came out, and over the years its risen to the level of a comedy classic in my estimation.  10/10 is reasonable, it's hard to find a flaw.

Absolutely nothing wrong with Groundhog Day. A nice little film that stand the test of time well. One of Bill Murray's finest hours. He hasn't done much funny stuff since then.

Well, his Zombieland cameo was pretty good. :twirl:

One of my all-time favourite romantic comedies. Bill Murray is terrific here as is Andie McDowall. Find I enjoy it more and more every time I see it. Of course, I'm a big fan of Murray and I like almost everything he's done.

Theres a lot of spiritual value in the film too.  Exactly what does one have to do to lead the perfect day.

Interesting info: People involved with the film have estimated the amount of time the central character spent repeating the same day as anywhere between 8 and 30 years, but there is no definitive answer.

According to the director it's 10 years.  IMDb FAQ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107048/faq#.2.1.1).

Great movie. Don't think I could spend ten years repeating the same day though. It would be quite fun for a while, but I would run out of fun things to do  :twirl:

Overlooked upon original release, GROUNDHOG DAY has captured a larger and larger audience with its frequent showing on cable stations.  Now, it's like IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE - a timeless classic.  There is much to recommend this film, one being it must be BILL MURRAY's first great performance.  GROUNDHOG DAY is one of my favorite films.

Yeah, Murray's character agreed with you. He tried to kill himself over and over and over in an attempt to stop it.

I saw this one in the theatre twice!  I liked it so much the first time that I had to go see it again.  I am pretty sure I was a Senior in high school.

It's one of those rare films where, it may not be on too many top tens, but then again, nobody seems to be able to say anything bad about it.

Normally Andie McDowell drives me up the wall.  She can't act her way out of a wet paper bag.... but she did okay in this one.

Honestly, waking up to "so put yo little hand in mine" at 6 AM EVERY DAY FOR A DECADE would crack just about anyone.
