Title: Fictional Characters You Relate To Post by: Mr. DS on February 19, 2010, 12:40:51 PM Are there characters in comics, literature, movies, etc that you look at and say "thats so me". Heres a few I came up with about myself;
Dr. Manhattan (Watchmen) (http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/watchmen/images/2/25/Doctor_Manhattan_remembers_his_past.jpg) Not the whole "indestructible man" thing but rather his detachment from humanity. I find many human affairs to be boring and I often feel a bit more detached from humanity every year. However, like him, I'm often reminded by those closest to me what it truly is to be human. Oscar The Grouch/Bert (Sesame Street) (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/ed/Sesame_Street_Hal_Miller_as_Gordon_with_Susan_and_Oscar.jpg) (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f1/Bert_and_Ernie.JPG) I'd say I'm a hybrid of these two characters. A la Oscar...I'm moody, socially challenged (depending on the environment) and hate a lot of things. A la Bert, also moody yet loveably nerdy. (Ernie is in the pic because I'm too lazy to find one of just Bert...I actuallly loathe Ernie...he's a prick). Just today I pulled out the stove and the refrigerator to clean behind them, made a master grocery shopping list in wordpad and printed out multiple copies for future use, took my hand held steam cleaner to the grout lines in the kitchen floor, and organized my spices alphabetically(my husband messes them all up) :smile:

As a kid, it was definitely Bert from Sesame Street for me too. I even had a bottlecap collection. Some cover-ups years later have been revealed while others probably never will be.... Charlie Brown Those who only know the Peanuts characters from the cartoons are probably unaware at how much depth and inner tormoil. Charlie Brown in particular was constantly depressed, angst ridden and filled with anxiety. Constantly pining away for love and approval that would always seem to alude him. Although he never gave up trying, he'd constantly fail at things (be it baseball, kite flying, etc), and was constantly picked by the people who were supposed to be his friend (the girls in particular.) Calvin (Calvin and Hobbes) What can I say? We both have a warped sense of humor, and overactive imaginations that often make others look at us as though we're weird. Like me, he's a lonely, isolated fellow, rejected by his peers, often fantasizes about taking revenge on his tormentors. Sadly, I'm still waiting for my Eli.
