Never saw the original, but I do know of the film. Somehow, this doesn't surprise me. They did throw the word "reinventing" out in there, and you know what that settles on. I say, if you want to remake something, take an old movie that was flawed or mediocre and make it better, rather than taking a classic and making it worse.
