A mix of terrific psychological horror tinted with tragic drama. And of course it's at heart a great piece of science fiction. Harlan Ellison gave it a heartfelt recommendation once upon a time on Sci-Fi Buzz with his Harlan Ellison's Watching segment. Think he called it one of the best science fiction films of all-time. He also highly praised The Mummy (1932) in terms of Horror.
