Title: Too many questions...
Post by: Trevor on March 06, 2010, 09:01:01 AM
Questions that never seem to be answered:

1. Was Princess Diana murdered?
2. Who shot JFK?
3. Was Marilyn Monroe murdered or was it an overdose?
4. Is there extraterrestrial life and do UFOs exist?

My non-definitive, non-expert answers:

1. No.
2. Oswald.
3. Overdose.
4. This is the toughest one.  Is there extraterrestrial life?  There's no evidence of it, but it's possible.  Who knows?  Do UFOs exist?  Well, by definition "Unidentified Flying Objects" exists, up until the point their identified, so yes, of course!  Are they alien spacecraft?  Hell, no.

1.No.
2.Some shmuck.
3.Both. Or not.
4.Life in space-more than likey. UFOs exist-as to what they are and where they come from-NO ONE KNOWS.  :buggedout: (cue X Files music here)

1.  Almost certainly not.  She was a victim of relentless papparazzi and a careless, half-inebriated limo driver.
2.  I still go back and forth on JFK.  The case against Oswald is far more solid than most of the conspiracy cranks will admit, but there are still those niggling bits of evidence that seem to indicate more was afoot than a lone nutjob.  Kennedy had so many enemies, and lived so recklessly, that almost anything seems possible.
3.  I haven't done a lot of research, but it seems from what I have read that Monroe was a desperately unhappy woman who may well have killed herself.  True story - a friend of mine from years ago was the coroner's assistant when she was brought in to the L.A. morgue.  He said even in death, she was so gorgeous that he copped a feel when his boss wasn't looking.  Disgusting!!!!!  :buggedout:  (He's not my friend anymore!)
4.  I am open-minded on that possibility.  90% of the UFO sightings are either natural phenomena or publicity seeking cranks, but that leaves 10% that truly seem to have encountered something that has no natural explanation.

No
Oswald ... along with someone else firing from a different location
overdose
I don' t think we are ALONE.  I can't believe that our Earth is the only planet in the entire universe that has intelligent life on it.  Well, we're supposed to be intelligent ....

1.) No, just a horrible accident
2.) Oswald I think was a fall guy.  Theres just too many discrepencies to point to him "acting alone".
3.) OD
4.) We are but a pindrop on a giant floor so yes, I do believe there is other life out there.

and new one from me...

5.) Did Lizzie Borden really kill her parents?

I live about 20 or so minutes from her old house and have been in it.  The way the house is set up I would say there is no way there could have been such a heinous murder done there without someone in the house knowing.  Its a large house height/length wise but width wise very small.  I'm not sure whodunit but I do think two people were involved.  The father's body was found on a couch literally almost right below the mothers upstairs.

Oh and one more...

6.) Did OJ do it?

I have no problem believing he did it.  The defense case they built against the police was a sacrilege.

1. I believe she was. Why did the Queen take four days to speak to a grieving nation? No one can be that stone cold.
2. Oswald was the fall guy.
3. A bit of both.
4. Yes.

Who was Jack The Ripper?
Was there really a curse on King Tuts tomb?
Do the Bermuda Triangle, the Loch Ness monster and Big Foot exist?

1. Horrible accident.

2. After watching an episode of Bulls**t on conspiracy theories, I'm firmly convinced it was Oswald.

3. I'm leaning toward OD.

4. Possible, but until someone shows me the money I'm skeptical.

1. No

3. OD
4. Yes

1. Was Princess Diana murdered?  - No.
2. Who shot JFK? - Oswald.  Reality is not as 'tidy' as people would like to believe.
3. Was Marilyn Monroe murdered or was it an overdose? - OD
4. Is there extraterrestrial life and do UFOs exist? - Yes: the universe is so big there almost has to be life out there.  "Unidentified Flying Objects" do exist: they are merely flying objects that are unidentified.     Are they alien ships? Unfortunately, no.

5. Who was Jack The Ripper? - Most likely Robert Mann, a Whitechapel morgue attendant.
6. Was there really a curse on King Tuts tomb? - No; all Egyptian tombs have 'curses' written on them as a deterrent to tomb robbers; and the deaths supposedly associated with Tut's tomb are not out-of-line statistically with those of any given group of people.
7. Do the Bermuda Triangle, the Loch Ness monster and Big Foot exist?   The Bermuda Triangle is indeed a place.  Does it have any 'special' powers?  No.  The Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot do not exist except in imagination.

Darksiders questions-
5.Did Lizzie axe her folks?-I think so.
6.Did OJ do it?-Most certaintly.

.Who was Jack the Ripper?-Lotsa theories on this one....I kinda like the suspect Francis Tumblety. Heres a link to a GREAT page of most of the Ripper suspects-click on the thumbnail pics to get a full history and profile of your favorite.  http://www.casebook.org/suspects/
.Curse of King Tut's Tomb-my opinion is akin to Newt's.
.Bermuda Triangle,Bigfoot, and Nessie-I like to keep an open mind on this kinda stuff. Bermuda Triangle? I dunno. I think most of the disapearances can be explained as the result of weather or ocean anamolies. Bigfoot-Perhaps centuries ago....Indian legends from a distant past kept alive through folktales. Nessie....again...perhaps once-but not in modern times. The thing of it is....I don't want to totally dismiss all these 'paranormal' theories...I like a little mystery in the world. I'm something of a romantic that way.
The problem is-as in the UFO problem-you get so many crackpots and opportunists involved-that to undertake any real scientific study of these things almost always gets ridiculed.

1. Most likely an unfortunate accident.
2. Oswald (Knock Knock. Who's there? Oswald. Oswald who? Oswald my gum!--Let's combine this with the terrible jokes thread  :teddyr:)
3. No informed guess. She could well have been murdered seeing how involved she was with the Kennedy power players.
4. I have no problems acknowledging the likelihood of extraterrestrial life. It seems pretty arrogant to think we are totally unique in the universe. Will we ever contact any of said life forms? Doubtful, unless we discover some basic life form on a planet in our solar system; other stars are just too far away to imagine that kind of travel right now. As for UFOs, as Newt said, they exist; they just aren't likely to be of extraterrestrial origin.
5. According to the movie starring Elizabeth Montgomery, Lizzie did indeed give her mother 40 whacks and her father 41. No real clue other than that.
6. OJ is most likely guilty; I didn't see all the evidence, so I can't say for sure, but yeah, he's a murderer.
7. Jack the Ripper was a notorious serial killer in London during the 19th century.  :teddyr:
8. See Newt's answer. She's a smart lady. Though according to Mojo Nixon, all the weird phenomena surrounding the Bermuda Triangle can be attributed to the fact that Elvis is alive and needs boats.

9. Is the chupacabra a real animal?

4. Is there extraterrestrial life and do UFOs exist?

1. No. But the royal family got lucky
2. Someone with the US government
3. Overdose
4. It's more than likely

Chupacabra?-Yeah- in peoples imagination. There is SOMETHING that generates these happings. Is it a bloodsucking monster-horror movie style? Naw-what is causing it-I dunno.Might never know. But this kinda stiff makes life cool and fun.
I am always fasinated by any "weird" reports. Most are bunk. But some are not. I seen some strange-VERY STRANGE-things. There is some kinda truth behind much of the myth. I wanna know. I wanna find out. I think everything in human experiance-(and the belief in ghosts and ufos make a big part of it-whether we like to admit it or not-what is religion-faith-? The belief in something on pure belief is FAITH) I have faith. Ihave faith in ideas I can't touch. I have faith in beliefs that are impossible. I BELIEVE any thing can happen-and more than likey will-someday.  I dunno.

1. Seems possible she might have been murdered but I don't truly think she was.
2. Think it wasn't only Oswald.
3. Overdose
4. I think UFOs and other paranormal phenomena are tied in with the native legends of old such as the Trickster. I really think they aren't from outer space but from other dimensions in space and time.

In my humble opinion:
1) Diana's death was a tragic accident.
2) Oswald acted alone, as has been said, reality isn't always tidy.
3) Marilyn Monroe was a very troubled woman, I believe it was an overdose, probably accidental but maybe not.
4) I am absolutely convinced that intelligent life exists on other planets, will we ever make contact, I hope so, are they here observing us, wouldn't surprise me, have they abducted people, it's possible, while I find almost all abduction stories hard to believe there are a few that may be true.
