Title: Embarrassing wardrobe Post by: The Burgomaster on March 12, 2010, 04:55:39 PM What's the most embarrassing article(s) of clothing you own (or owned)? For me, it's probably a pair of zebra print denim jeans and a tight-fitting black top (I think it was made of velvet or something). I bought these from International Male around 1990 or so (that was about 35 pounds ago). So, imagine an outfit similar to this on a guy and you'll get the idea:

Title: Re: Embarrassing wardrobe Post by: The Burgomaster on March 13, 2010, 09:52:18 AM Ummm... what instrument did you play? None. Which makes this even more embarrassing. Title: Re: Embarrassing wardrobe Post by: trekgeezer on March 13, 2010, 12:27:20 PM Back in the mid 70's when I was stationed in Scotland, the only kind of civilian dress shoes you could buy were platforms. Those things pushed my height up to about 6'5" and I must've felt the same way clomping around in those things as Boris Karloff did when he played Frankenstein.

This is a good lead-in to my second most embarrassing clothing ensemble. Around 1976 I had a blue denim leasure suit that I used to wear with flower-print polyester shirts, a wide white belt, and black platform shoes. My mother has snapshots of me wearing this stuff. I'll try to find one and post it here. Title: Re: Embarrassing wardrobe Post by: flackbait on March 13, 2010, 11:46:26 PM (http://www.vintagenyc.com/prodimg/msd0015a2.jpg)
I had to wear the top of one of these suits at a wedding one time! I had stained my other suit top so I had to borrow one of my grandfather's old suits. Another example is when I was six I wore a pair of army boots, army helmet and a pair of scuba goggles and snorkel, yes I was a very wierd child. Title: Re: Embarrassing wardrobe Post by: Silverlady on March 14, 2010, 05:43:12 PM It was the mid-sixties, I was about 15 or so and was going to a dance with some friends. I wore a short royal blue cordoury skirt with a white poor boy sweater ... which was ok. It was the black fishnet stockings with spiky heels, the teased up long hair, and the caked on make-up that me look like a teeny bopper hooker! I can't imagine having let my mother see me walk out of the house looking like this, so I must have applied the "finishing" touches in the ladies room at the dance. I thought I had looked so COOL! That was ages and pounds ago. When I go out now I dress appropriately, but I still remember the rebellious teenager that still lurks inside -- that's why I love Halloween! :teddyr: Title: Re: Embarrassing wardrobe Post by: Derf on March 15, 2010, 08:53:13 AM I not only wore a leisure suit, but it was one that my mother made for me. That one was brown. The other suit she made for me, though, was a regular style suit, which was fine, but I insisted on sky blue material. Mmmmm, pretty.
Title: Re: Embarrassing wardrobe Post by: Paquita on March 15, 2010, 10:11:01 PM When I was 8 I thought shiny neon bright colored stretch pants were the best! I rolled them up to my knees because I just didn't like how they looked over my socks. If I could find a really puffy pair of socks, I'd tuck my pants in them. Watch.. give it 2-3 years, they're going to be the hottest fashion!

And like a lot of kids in the '70s, I had hideous Garanimals. I must have scarred him for life. :buggedout: Title: Re: Embarrassing wardrobe Post by: retrorussell on March 16, 2010, 02:53:13 PM I remember Garanimals ... they were both cute and ugly at the same time.
