Title: Disney Characters You Like/Dislike Post by: Mr. DS on March 21, 2010, 09:37:06 AM Disney has indeed given us a legacy of characters (many of them "borrowed" from existing literature). Which ones do you like/dislike?
LIKE: Gaston (Beauty And The Beast) (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3c/GastonVillain.jpg) He gazes at himself lovingly, treats Belle like a piece of wild game and beats the crap out of his best friend. I was never no MICKEY fan, he's merely a foil, but can appreciate some of the old cartoons, even the effete, color, MICKEY in the later ones (this I can't believe is 1935 - damned early!) ... And I also don't care for Mickey. He's not as entertaining as Goofy or Donald, and there's just something wrong about the amount of importance he's given. It's pretty clear that he's the star, the leader and the most important of the characters. It feels forced, and that inequality lurking between the lines just bothers me. Apart from being the oldest and most successfully marketed of the characters, and marginally smarter, there's just no reason Mickey should be elevated so high above his friends. Agreed...although Disney's argument would be "it all started with a mouse". Mike is the short one with the ego and Sully is the big guy who is more laid back. He's great in Ducktales, and the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck (basically a comic-based telling of his entire life, up to the point he meets Huey, Dewey, and Louie) is fantastic. Scrooge McDuck is definitely my fave Disney character and Donald is right up there with him too. The nephews Huey, Luey and Duey can be annoying but I have a soft spot for them since they usually set up many of the situations in Donald Duck's cartoons. Weirdly, I always liked Daffy Duck better than Bugs Bunny too. Guess I just like Ducks in cartoons and comics as I also liked Duckman and Howard the Duck. Darkwing Duck, yep I liked him too.
Prince Charming was a Disney character I never really cared that much for...the perfect guy who always rescues the princess. I much prefer what they did in SHREK. |
