Title: 80s Cover Art
Post by: feiyen on April 07, 2010, 04:54:23 PM
My father had a box full of vhs tapes all unopened! this is from when I was a kid so I'll try to describe the cover art. This film seem to be early 80s. might even be late 70s.

There's a picture of a woman with curly puffy hair she looked pale with dark circles under her eyes. She wore, I think was a black robe or dress. Behind her there was some creature under a hood not sure if his face was shown. One other weird thing is there was this person hunch over like if you put someone over your shoulder with a dark dark red dress or it was just fabric not too sure on that part. The back of the box from a screen shot a women in black robe like dress with mist all around her and bars behind her. For some reason I remember there not being a title on the box. Just the art and description in the back with more pictures.

any clues would much appreciate.

The back of the vhs also depicted some gorilla like creatures, the women had 80s like hair and she was wearing a black outfit. She had pale skin and dark eyes.

If only it was that, well I tried looking for 80s cover art online and came across this:

pretty neat place, but still in the search for those lost memories...

I think you might be referring to KOLOBOS.  I found a used VHS copy of it for a buck at a video store going-out-of-business sale:

This movie is CRAZY bad and definitely deserves to be reviewed on this site.  It is one of the most brilliant and deviously deceptive uses of cover art ever, as there are neither hot chicks with glowing eyes nor any kind of beast-things in the movie whatsoever.  Trickery!!

I hope this is what you are looking for.  My copy has an almost holographic-type of look to it, and the VHS itself is bright red.

close on the cover except you can see more of girls body http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0151239/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0151239/)

I'm starting to wonder if there is any movie with a girl and some kinda assistant who is disfigured, beast like, or in a black hooded disguise. The search continues!

I guess I had never looked it up on IMDB.  From the picture quality you'd swear it was sometime in the late 80s or maybe early 90s, but I never would have thought 1999.

If that's not it, I'm stumped on your movie.  Sorry.

Well Sis your silly. You fail to post up other descriptions i gave you about the movie cover. I remember pretty well, She has red mess up hair, she sitting on a bench lock up in chains by her wrists and I said she looks like a certain actress Carol Cane the ghost of Christmas pass in the Scrooged movie with Bill Murray.

So look up the actress movies and came across this http://www.weirdwildrealm.com/f-mafucage.html

and heres the image that was on the cover of the VHS. Macabre!!! make her pay!!!
