Title: Shatner a Favourite for Canada's Next Governor General Post by: AndyC on April 24, 2010, 09:03:20 AM Spotted this on the front page of the Toronto Star while I was buying groceries yesterday. It has apparently been front-page news across the country.

The guy is a cultural icon and possibly the most famous Canadian there is. It's mainly a ceremonial position, and I think Shat would attract a lot of attention both within Canada and around the world. And he would be arguably the most interesting GG so far. And he would be the first Jewish GG. The first woman was a big deal, and the first black, so why not? I would say our current PM is just enough of a geek that the idea might appeal to him. I think the only major obstacle is whether Shatner, himself would make the commitment. I've always wanted to visit Canada anyway. :smile: |
