Title: Pleasantville (1998)
Post by: InformationGeek on April 29, 2010, 08:12:19 AM
I remember watching this one time and actually enjoying it.  The preformances were solid and I liked the idea of TV characters moving pass their original personalities as seen in the show.  For those of you who have seen the movie, what is your thoughts on it?

I find this film to be immensely underrated.  It has an all star cast who have fun with the script.  I love with Bill Macy's character comes home and is shocked to find there is no dinner on the table.  The film draws obvious references to racial discrimination but doesn't really jam it down your throat.

I second the clever references to racism. Not a bad film at all. The entire thing is equal parts nostalgia for and satire of 1950's provincial mindsets.

It had a good central message about freedom.  I sure wouldn't have wanted to grow up in the 50s.

I enjoyed it.  And I like Fiona Apples music video of NOTHING'S GONNA CHANGE MY WORLD on the DVD.
