Another great plot for a possible future B-movie:
makenmovies.com/drama/the-one-i-truly-am.html

Possible titles: The One I Was Before, The One I Truly Am, Disco Fire '78

Plot: It's 1978. A young man (David) and his hot girlfriend Susan are kissing in his yellow 1976 Pontiac Firebird. Later they go to a popular disco club where he meets his friends (he is one of the cool guys of the university). A nerdy girl, called Jenny goes to the party for the first time. She is self-conscious and an outcast and everyone looks down on her at the disco. She is looking at popular David (she's secretly in love with him but she knows they are worlds apart and he'll never be hers.)

Alice, a popular girl makes fun of her and spills her beer on her new dress. Jenny gets mad because she's been treated that way for as long as she can remember and sets the disco on fire. She tries to escape, but dies in the fire. It is revealed that David and his girlfriend also didn't make it. Ten years after the event, in 1988 a boy, called Rob is born.

During his childhood in the 90s he develops fondness to everything from the bygone era of the 70s (music, cars etc.) and he promises himself he is going to get a 70s muscle car when he grows up. Flash forward to present day, Rob, now a young man finds an old yellow banger near a dump yard. The car is a yellow 1976 Firebird. (Later in the film it is revealed that the car's most recent owner was a friend of David who survived the fire.) As he likes muscle cars and yellow is one of his most favorite car colors, he gets it repaired by a mechanic he knows.

After a while he starts getting flashbacks from his past life as David. Rob's a bit terrified at the beginning, but later gets excited - after all he was a popular guy in his past life (Rob is a handsome young man, but is painfully shy and is seen as an outcast. He doesn't have any friends at all.) Inspired by his past life, Rob changes his life and becomes one of the popular guys. Having his Firebird fully restored also helps. Meanwhile, Rob takes a revenge on some of the popular kids that survived the disco fire back in 1978 by doing some very naughty things to them... The last victim is Alice, who also managed to get away from the fire. At the end of the movie, Rob has become as talkative as he was in his past life and as a child (In a flashback scene it is revealed he got shy around 7th grade) and is no longer the loser of the university. He gets a girlfriend and he manages to get away with his bloody revenge.

My opinion is that this plot unites ressurection, thriller, drama and comedy.
