Title: GARRINGO (1969)

I bought this excellent quality (sharp picture, vibrant colors) widescreen DVD-R from Cinema de Bizarre.

It's tough to categorize this spaghetti western as a good movie, but it's closer to being good than bad, so here it is!

The bad stuff - The plot is 100% unoriginal and predictable.  A young boy watches helplessly as soldiers kill his father.  The boy becomes an expert gunman and when he grows to adulthood he seeks revenge by randomly killing other soldiers.  The army assigns Lieutenant Garringo (Anthony Steffen aka Antonio de Teffe) to bring the killer to justice.  Garringo is basically a scruffy-bearded, Clint Eastwood, "Man with no name" clone.

The good stuff - The movie doesn't waste any time.  It moves along at a rapid pace and everything is resolved in less than 90 minutes (IMDB lists the running time as 84 minutes, which I think is pretty accurate).  There's plenty of shooting along the way.

Overall, a decent, no-frills western (with the usual no-frills dubbing).
