Indianasmith is a guy who isn't afraid to speak him mind and maintain his stance.  He is a well read gentleman but also enjoys awful movies.  He also is a master fossil finder who rocks the hats he wears.  To Indy!  :cheers:

I was just telling my wife about this guy on the internet who lives in Texas and collects arrowheads.  He's got a whole wall full of them!  "Did there used to be a lot of Indians in Texas?"  She asked.  Well, I said, I don't imagine the arrowheads just got there by themselves  :teddyr:

Yeah.  I've disagreed with Indiana a lot on the varied posts here, but he's always handled himself respectfully and admirably about this.  And he's got maybe the best (worst?) tolerance for bad movies on the board.  Up there, anyway.

Indy is just a plain good ole decent fellow. Sure his opinions might not always match mine or others but Indy always tries to be respectful of others as long as they are to him.  A real good guy.  :thumbup:

My daughter is very impressed with Indy, as the guy who sold me the "best birthday present ever."  She had no idea ordinary people could go out and find fossils as a hobby.

I might not always agree with his views, but I really respect people who defend what they believe in, and thats exactly what Indianasmith does.  :thumbup:

From the interactions I've had with indianasmith on the board, I'm pretty sure we almost have antithetical views on very, very many things. Not in a combative sense, we just have a different viewpoint on the world. I disagree with most of his politics. I'm also almost completely irreligious, whereas indianasmith is a steadfast Christian.

However, I admire indianasmith. I may disagree with him, but he's not stupid. He's smart as a whip and ready to defend his beliefs.

He's also our resident historian. We share a fascination with American history, and I know if I want to talk about anybody about abstruse topics that I don't think anybody would care about, indy is right there with insightful commentary. Who else wants to argue about the role Alexander Hamilton had in the creation of the American Republic?

More importantly, indianasmith is just a good person. I can argue with his viewpoints for pages, but I never forget that there is an actual decent person behind all that rhetoric.

I hope that comes across, indy. I often sound like an ass because I am an ass. But it's great to talk to somebody who actually knows what he's talking about.

Indy is the man who was / is rash enough to invite me on a fossil - arrowhead hunt if I was ever in his neck of the woods. Wonder what I would dig up? He is the man.  :thumbup:

Indianasmith has always struck me as passionate, smart and kind. As others have said, I don't always agree politically, but it doesn't lessen my liking of the man. Also, he too enjoys Dave Barry!!! How cool is that?!?! Keep it up!

What I meant by that is that Indy, despite us disagreeing on several subjects, is always good to talk to. He's good people, and that much is glaringly obvious to anybody to pays even the slightest attention.

Joking aside, I would like to thank everyone for the nice things said.  After a stressful day, I know I can come here and relax.  You guys are awesome!

As well as some of the political beliefs you have,  AND it dosen't hurt that Indy's a fellow Elder Scrolls fan, as well as his love for arrowheads. If nothing else, he and I can spend long hours telling tales of our adventures in Tamriel, of which we have many.

On many issues Indy and I disagree, but I will say that you can always trust him to have a thoughtful, insightful, and kind word to share.  You might not agree with his answers, but they are always GOOD ones.  Toast to you man.

indianasmith routinely makes short little posts about odd and obscure movies, generally with good things to say about them. His posts have intrigued me enough to check them out (the most recent was YellowBrickRoad). More often than not, I find them gems hidden in the rough, and the only reason I would have paid them attention is because indianasmith brought them up.

indianasmith is now on my short list of people who's movie recommendations I can trust. This is high praise for me. The guy has a singular eye for really good movies. I'm an acolyte now, if indianasmith says it's worth checking out, I know it will indeed be worth looking into.

A great guy who is intelligent and a fellow Texan. :thumbup:

     I often find myself in agreement with his beliefs, his political stance, but most if all, his ability to stand up and be a mench, a man, which is rare today.

     People like Indy are part of the reason I came to Texas. If you ever trip through Whitney, dude, look me and Trace up, 'hear?

Yes I did, twenty years ago, on a field trip with my 7th grade Texas history class.
The one in the pic is actually a cast of the original fossil, though.
The real one is in a glass case in front of our school library.

The only Mosasaur I have ever seen in a movie was in JURASSIC WORLD.
They could make for a GREAT sea monster film - Tylosaurus would put JAWS to shame!

No, and they should, as it is about time there was another film featuring the Mosasaur, since it is so popular as a documentary subject.

I know I don't post very often.. mostly because by the time I'm done reading everything (and I do try to read EVERYTHING), over an hour has gone by and I realized I've neglected some thing or another for too long.  But when these appreciation threads come up, it pains me every day I don't reply.  When this one came I thought Oh this is over 5 year old! I for SURE responded to this!  NOPE!  THen I thought well Indy already KNOWS I appreciate him.. right :twirl:???
