Title: Art Linkletter Dies at 97
Post by: Raffine on May 26, 2010, 06:15:49 PM
Legendary broadcaster Art Linkletter has passed away at 97.

I have vauge memories of my mom watching Art Linkletter's House Party.

I hate to admit it, but I had no idea Linkletter was still alive.

I vaguely remember watching a tv show where Art Linkletter would talk to young children and they would blurt out all kinds of things, usually very funny things. I don't know if it was the name of the show, or a segment of the show - but it was called "Kids say the darndest things."

In 1955, the year that Disneyland opened, the opening ceremonies were broadcast live on television. The four hosts of those opening ceremonies were Walt Disney, Bob Cummings, Art Linkletter, and Ronald Reagan. Art Linkletter was the last surviving co-host of that program.
