Title: What Unintentionally Funny B-Movies Made You Laugh the Hardest?
Post by: Flick James on July 09, 2010, 01:57:59 PM
I'm on a quest for the funniest B-movies. Not movies that had intentional comedic effect, but nonetheless made you laugh so hard you shot liquid through your nose.

The Galaxy Invader:

So much down-south redneckidness, like the holes in the father's shirt, and the way he slaps his daughter.

Impulse (1974) with William Shatner.
Point Break (1991) - not a B-Movie but very hilarious if you happen to dislike Keanu Reeves.
Trog (1970)
They're Playing With Fire (1984)
Showgirls (1995) - campy and over-the-top but also a fountain of unintentional humor.

Since you have netflix...

Mystics in Bali is quite fun... there is a scene where the characters are talking and they must have changed their clothes at least 3 times :)

I Drink Your Blood... I'd bet the grandson (the young boy) has written the script for this story.

Blood Shack!!  Which is also on Netflix.  You have to read the summary first and get all psyched about the super scary Chopper guy and the great big fancy Mansion like I did to get the full effect!

PLAN 9, or course.

Despite Andrew's low rating I think BLOOD FREAK (http://www.badmovies.org/movies/bloodfreak/) is a must for unintentional comedy.

BOARDING HOUSE is one you may not have seen yet.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfCWKorTVMw

Beware the nudity and gore in this one; it's shot in HORRORVISION, after all.

I really want to see Boarding House!!  It was next on our Netflix queue and now it's "unavailable"!  So they sent SHOCK WAVES instead!  I don't know where that came from because I've already seen it and I swear it wasn't on the queue a day ago!

The early 90's Fantastic Four film.  Such humor and cheesy goodness can only be found in such a superhero film.   :teddyr:

The Brain From Planet Arous (1958) warrants mention here (as does arguably most movies starring John Agar but particularly this one featuring an evil, lecherous would be planet conquering floating brain that takes over Agar's body) as does of course the iconic Robot Monster featuring a monster in a gorilla suit with a diving helmet. Ro-Man: "I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot!

The Being -- Idaho's best, worst, and only monster movie.  From the mayor in the pockets of "Big Spud" to the rolling eyeball of the monster to the hero's (also the producer) invulnerability in the face of monster claws, spiked tongue and cyanide gas (but not a board with a nail in it)...it's pure comedy gold.

My vote goes to the Ed Wood penned THE REVENGE OF DR. X. Unfortunately this clip cuts off one of Wood's best lines :"How in the HELL could anybody be so utterly STUPID as to build a rocket launch site on the coast of Florida?!?"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wt4jxz6tO2g&feature=related

This one has everything: from the incorrect title sequence (this movie is actually titled THE DOUBLE GARDEN, but at some point somebody tacked on the credits for an Eddie Romero Filipino flick), an insane performance by James Craig, and a delightfully goofy Venus Fly Trap monster. Graig had been Hollywood's replacement for Clark Gable during the war years, and had starred in big budget films like THE DEVIL AND DANIEL WEBSTER

Along the way Craig has a mental fit and is forced on vacation, drives to the airport from Cape Kennedy via North Carolina ?!?), visits a snake farm, smuggles a Venus Fly Trap on a plane, gets himself a sexy female assistant and a manic hunchback who plays scary music on a organ, feeds puppies and blood from pregnant ladies to his monster, surrounds himself with topless pearl divers, and <SPOILER> has himself a Manster-like finale on a volcano.

Here's a link to watch the whole damn thing. If you are a true bad movie fan, you won't regret it!  :teddyr:

Dr. Butcher, M.D.

This was the first bad movie that had me laughing so hard it hurt, and is probably the film that is the most responsible for getting me started on my obsession with "bad movies."  To this day, I have never laughed so hard at a B-horror flick.  Even the trailer is hilarious.  The movie is also known as "Zombie Holocaust."  I haven't seen the ZH version yet, but I once heard from a knowledgeable source that the Dr. Butcher version is funnier because of the way it is edited.  The title "Dr. Butcher, M.D. (Medical Deviate)" is also priceless, and way funnier than the name "Zombie Holocaust."

Teenagers From Outer Space (1959) warrants a mention. Teen Martians invade the Earth looking for a nesting ground for their deadly Gargon herd. One Martian however is wary of harming life on another planet while the majority couldn't give a rat's you know what. Wait till you see said Gargons in action. Not entirely sure the comedy completely unintentional here though. Still I highly recommend this one and was shocked to discover my girlfriend liked this one as much as I did!

Berserk with Joan Crawford is a feast of unintentional humor and camp. The love scenes with Ty Hardin will make you either laugh out loud or throw up a little in the back of your mouth, depending on your own constitution. You can watch it for free on Youtube.

What a great horrible movie!!  A JOAN CRAWFORD movie definitely belongs on the list, but I think this one is way funnier, more deliciously lurid, and horribly ham handed; in other words, just great!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQMlThfPeIQ&feature=related

Listen to the narration at the beginning by DIANE BAKER who plays JOAN CRAWFORD's daughter... That's LEE MAJORS playing "Lucy Harbin's" husband... JOAN CRAWFORD was 34 years older, not 7...!!!

I think all of "The Transporter" was hilarious. Not only did Jason Statham go from whiny British guy whose afraid of gangsters in his earlier Guy Richie films to being an absolute bad ass, he kills a guy with a t-shirt!

The main actress was a bit unintentional amusing but the rest was indeed awful and dull. One has to be hardcore to find all of this hilarious  :bluesad:

Mmmmmmmmm, Statham...........

The Room is pretty amazing, the director even tried to pretend it was a dark comedy all along after he found out people were making fun of it.
Pandorum is pretty funny if you're a fan of Red Dwarf. I kept waiting for The Cat to show up the whole time I was watching.
Species has quite a lot of unintentional humor.
And of course there's Dr. Boll's entire catalog, of course my personal favorite is In the Name of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale

But for me, the Japanese movie "House" (Hausu) made me laugh till I hurt and then some.

It personally didn't happen to me, but it really got my dad laughing.  When we watched Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders, he got a kick out of a big goof.  In one scene, you can see the suit of armor outside of the shop, but in the next scene, you can see the head off of it with the person wearing the costume.  This happened twice.

As such, this is the only b-movie to get my dad laughing.

I watched Beowulf with Christophe Lambert the other day, and the strangely intense way he says his lines, coupled with the flitting eyes and the bleached hair had me laughing all the way through. A performance of Shatneresque proportions.

Forgot to mention this in my first post: Nightmare at Shadow Woods (1987), which is the edited re-titled re-release of Blood Rage. Sadly the uncut Blood Rage is not available on DVD, but the budget disc of Nightmare at Shadow Woods is still worth checking out. Even though lacking gore but it's still hilarious as hell.

You MUST get "The Forbidden Dance is Lambada"

Laura Herring from Mulholland Drive
Sid Haig
Richard Lynch - DOING the lambada with Ms. Herring
The leading guy who looks 40 and is desparately combing his hair forward.

This movie was so "Graydon Clark" awesome that my wife and I want to buy it - you will truly laugh your ass off.

Netflix available - move it to #1 you won't regret it.

Quite honestly...there are three for me that caused side splitting "owww it hurts to laugh"

first was "Breathing Fire"...basically it encapsulates the 80's in one short film, many "actors" in the film were only ever in this film, so that should tell you plenty.

second was actually what seemed like a "legitimate" movie...starring Carl Weathers..."Action Jackson"....there were tons of moments of "no...he's not going to....OH MAN HE DID!!! LAWLROFLLAWL!!!" Watch for driving a corvette into a mansion and chasing the bad guy around the house with it...up a flight of stairs...priceless. Also the hotel managers voice...will make you laugh every time guaranteed.

third is "revenge of the ninja" starring Sho Kosugi. Considering how awesoemly BAD ASS ninja assassin was, this movie is so bad it hurts...but it's awesomely comical at the same time. Ninjas getting shot by some average guy...a dude opening up an art gallery whose logo looks like a spread ass...and a white guy henchman with ponytails, a roy rogers vest, and two tomahawks named "chief" who is ordered by the bad guy to "scalp" people.

You know who "Chief" was? Native American actor Don Shanks, who used to play Nakuma on The Life And Times Of Grizzly Adams. And if I remembe right, he's also the guy who played "The Shape" in a few of the original Halloween movies. I believe I remember seeing the name in the credits.

Yeah, this was a fun movie. The guy who was Kosugi's cop buddy was martial artist Keith Vitali.  And of course, Sho always showcases his sons, Kane and Shane in his movies too.

Kane went on to be one of the lead characters in Godzilla: Final Wars and both of them were on an episode of G4's Ninja Warrior. Both of them aced the courselike it was nothing.

I admit, I haven't seen the whole movie, but I've seen several clips from The Wicker Man with Nicolas Cage that made me laugh out loud, even though they're supposed to be serious.

"AHHH!!  Not the bees!  Not the BEEEESSS!!"

It's so bad that someone even recut the film into a trailer for a comedy movie, and, neatly enough, they didn't have to change too much.

If the "Chief" was actually native american they sure as hell made him look white before dressing him up in the most stereotypical native getup ever...why would he agree to do something like that besides the meager paycheck?!?!? lol

Revenge of the Ninja is bad. Ninja III: The Domination is way worse though. The opening 10 mins of Ninja III have a ninja attack a golf course, the LAPD, helicopters, motorcycles, more LAPD, an LAPD officer with a shotgun and cigar.....and jazzercising.

TEETH (2007)

what can you say about a movie with a teenage, abstinent virgin that has teeth in her vagina and goes on a rampage biting off appendages left and right.  it wasn't supposed to be funny but me and a few buddies were almost crying when we watched it.  i recommend it, not going to get into details but like i said its about a teen girl with teeth in her vagina and kills people i dont think i have to say anymore hahaha
