Title: A scientist and a posessed hand?
Post by: Jen on August 02, 2010, 01:19:02 PM
O.K.  I watched a movie ten years ago and can't seem to find it.  I don't know the name but do know it had a scientist and a posessed hand.  It is from the 90's.  I remember it being funny, but that could have been cause it was bad.  I wish I had more info, any help PLEASE!!

Perhaps not a possessed hand, but a possessed arm in "Severed Ties" (1992).

If not, some description of what happened in the film (characters, a scene, etc.) would be very helpful in garnering some good suggestions

that may be the movie, and a fast response!  It sounds right, i really only remember that the scientist was kind of crazy, maybe some basementy science parts, and a woman helper?  hmm...

I hesitate to mention it, because it doesn't match your description very well except for the possessed hand:  Evil Dead 2 (1987) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092991/).  The only reason I mention it at all is that whenever I hear "possessed hand", that's the movie I instantly think of.1

Regardless, all three films in the series (1 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083907/), 2 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092991/), 3 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106308/)) are very cheesy and very enjoyable and I recommend all of them.

Hmmm, it seems someone is making Evil Dead IV (2011) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1288558/)!

1 (As Winston Churchill (http://www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/churchill.html)'s corpse shudders in disgust, I just can't bring myself to say "that's the movie of which I instantly think.")

Body Parts (1991), starring Jeff Fahey involved possessed limbs.

Fahey's character loses his arm in a car accident and receives a replacement from a dead serial killer. Naturally, the arm is possessed. Not a bad flick.

Is this perhaps Oliver Stone's The Hand?

And of course there is the (reportedly) horrendous Demonoid.

Don't think it was "Demonoid" Shadow (how the hell are you anyway man?!) as that involves people snorting demonic cocaine from the disembodied hand of a demon or the devil or something.  :bouncegiggle:

Old post and a real longshot of a suggestion but you could be thinking of the part in the 1994 Frankenstein where Waldman is showing Victor and Henry his reanimated gorilla hand.  It "attacks" Henry, I believe.

There was a surgeon (Matt Frewer) with possessed hands in Quicksilver Highway.

The first thing that came to mind was Idle Hands, although I don't think there was a scientist in this movie, but it was funny.
